Is that what you think when I'm with Koa or Aneth, not you?” Nye locks eyes with me. “Dragons have a hierarchy. The leader of the males is the one with whom the female spends the most time. Koa and Aneth know this.” I cross my arms, “That makes no sense. I want to get to know all of you.” “Too bad,” Nye says, his eyes are unwavering. “If they can’t beat me in a fight, you won’t.” I chuckle, unbelieving the nature of these creatures. “So if you were to be “dethroned” by Aneth or Koa. I'd be spending more time with them?” “It's our nature. To be a leader you must be powerful, if not you don't deserve to be there. Someone else will take it.” Nye says this as if it's a binding oath. Well, that's great. It will take me forever to get to know Koa and Aneth more than on a surface level. “You irk me.” I cross my arms over my chest. Nye did get under my skin, but I liked it. Am I sick in the head? Maybe. “Darling, you take me for someone who needs your approval for what I do. You should know by now that I do not.” Nye smirks at me. I roll my eyes. “Then buckle up 'cause you're going to have a butt load of shit to deal with on this ride, honey.” I walk past him, purposefully exaggerating the sway of my hips. Bite it, big guy.

Chapter 62

~Kamari~

I've learned many things from Mael, like making the land my own and making illusions with shadows. My favorite, though, was a trick I developed by myself. I can move things, small things, with my mind. It wasn't much, but it was fun. Mael didn't seem to have this ability so, i figured it was because I was a hybrid. I focused on one of Aneth's books and held it in the air as long as possible. My eyes glowed when I engaged this ability. The door opens, and I drop it.

"Ugh." I groan and look up to see Aneth. "Can't a woman have some privacy to work on her craft?" Aneth smirks then mimic the same trick I did and set the book on the table. I furrow my brows and then scoff, "Show off." Aneth sits beside me. "I suppose I like to keep you on your toes."

"You do. You are always expanding your knowledge of things." I gaze up at him and bite my lip. "It's quite Sexy," I say, wrapping my arms around his neck. Aneth hums approval, and then his eyes drag up and down my body. He tucks a strand of my hair behind my ear, and there is something behind his gaze that makes me curious as to what he is thinking.

Out of the blue, he says, "Your heat cycle is coming soon."

I wear a pressed smile, "Have you been counting down the days?"

"The seconds." Aneth smirks.

I nod my head, and I can't hide my amusement. "Such a sweet talker," I say sarcastically, then wink at him. Aneth held the lead for longer than I expected of all my husbands. It felt nice to have some stability. "On a different topic, who will shift for the Fest of Ignis?"

Aneth sits beside me, "Nye and Koa are unhappy about It. It seems I will be doing the honors." Fest of Ignis, I had Ryuu personally hand out letters to people. I thought it might make it more memorable. Mael brought fruit, and the bakers were busy making different pastries. I hope to celebrate the Kingdom's history. The people of Nivillia haven't had something like that. I get up and start getting dressed, while I'm talking I can't help but feel Aneth's stare.

I look over my shoulder, and he doesn't hide the fact that his eyes ravage my body. "You know, you could be more subtle," I smile playfully.

"Why?" He leans back on his hands. "I see something I want." A smile pulls at his lips. Lately, I've noticed Aneth's need for me increasing, and I couldn't help but wonder if it was due to the energy he gets from me. I think it's why he's stayed in the lead for so long. I'm his everlasting source of power. I finish dressing and turn my attention to him.

"Are you trying to be ready for battle?" I say, amused.

He leans forward. "Call it reserves," his voice makes me melt like butter. I walk towards him, stopping mere feet from him. He pulls me closer by the waist. "Well, you're going to have to wait. I need whatever energy I have for the Festival." He corks an eyebrow. "I'm the one shifting." He smirks.

"Oh," I chuckle. "Don't use that as an excuse. I know you have more than enough reserves." I look down at him, his golden eyes blazing. "There is never enough of you, Kamari. The time each of us spends apart from you is maddening. But it gives us a reason to keep growing, to take each other down just to lay beside you."

My chest floods with warmth, but at the same time, it aches. "I wish you didn't have to do that. It feels like it destroys your bond with each other. Nye and Koa never get along. It's because of me. You all fight because of me." Aneth's hands roam to the small of my back. "It is because of you," Aneth eyes soften, "The relationship between my brothers and I is between us. We've been together for ages. Do you know how rare it is for a Dragon to be called by soul to their true soul mate?" He pauses, then stands, pulling me into his embrace, "I would have spent centuries more looking for you, Kamari." He grabs my face between his hands; I place a hand on his. "You didn't have to wait long."

Aneth's brow furrows slightly. "Kamari, it's tough to track down your soul mate after they call to you. It's like a very thin string." My face contorts in confusion. "You are the very thing that brought us together, Kamari. We eventually knew where we were going, and we stayed together." My chest tightens, and my eyes burn at his words.

"How long did it take for you to find me?"

He places his forehead on mine; I feel his aura, his soul burning in a good way. "From the beginning." I look up at him, confusion furrowing my brows. I search his eyes. "Are you telling me you've been looking since you took your first breath?"

Aneth smiles down at me, "You've seen how fast we grow, and it wasn't long after that we found each other. We've been looking for you for a very long time." A lump grows in my throat, and I feel tears slide down.

"I wasn't even born, Aneth. How," I pause and caress his cheek. "How could you have felt me when I had no soul yet?" Aneth kisses the back of my hand. "Kadea works in mysterious ways, and I wish I had the answer to that, but regardless, you are ours as we are yours—mind, body, and soul."

My heart had never ached so bad in my life; the fact that they had managed to find me never stopped. It was as if my love could not grow any longer for them, but it did; it wrecked my sanity sometimes. I thought I was crazy back then, but now, I knew I would destroy if I ever lost one of them. I wrap my arms around his neck, "I love you, Aneth." He lifts my chin to him and places a gentle, lingering kiss on my lips; a shockwave of warmth pulses through my body, "I love you, Kamari, beyond words," he whispers against my lips.

The Fest of Ignis started at night. Vendors who volunteered their services lined the cobblestone streets. The smell of sweet Black fruit baked goods, along with many other foods, filled the air. Children ran up and down the streets with Dragon toys. Some even wore cute masks that symbolized Aneth, Nye, and Koa. So far, Nye was the popular one. I giggle as I see a child race past Nye and me.

Nye plucks the mask off the kid's face, "Hey! That's mine!" Nye tosses him one of Koa's instead. "Be different." Nye's voice is ripe with irritation. "Must these human children take such a liking to a Dragon who'd kick them like a rat?"

"Oh, come on, Nye. There was one little boy who won you over, remember?" For Thomas, I made a statue. Calea helped me with her magic, but outside the now abandoned building was a statue of a boy still playing with his toy dragon. Nye's jaw clenched. "And why do you think I'd care about such things?"

I step in front of him, gazing into his eyes with a smile, "Because under that cold, scaly skin of yours, you liked him, and you admitted it." I poke at his chest, "You big softy." Nye growls at me; I playfully hiss back. He blows air through his nose while rolling his eyes. "Keep taunting my darling," Nye leans into me, "Cause when you're in my arms again, you're going to regret testing me," his voice drips with desire.

I smiled wickedly; I had forgotten how much I loved being a brat with Nye, taunting him. It made me anxious to have him again, but I knew I'd have to be on my toes and watch how he interacted with Calea. I can't help myself and close the distance between us, "Do you ache for the feel of my fangs piercing your skin," I skim his arm with my hand, locking eyes with him; I watch as his eyes darken; he licks his lips, "Are you trying to get a reaction out of me?"

I shrug, "Maybe." My eyes draw to his lips, "Or maybe I just want to misbehave and be punished by you." Nye's head falls back, and he chuckles darkly, "Oh Darling, be careful with such words," he grabs my arm, his eyes burning into me, "They might just be the last ones you utter beneath me," the gravel in his voice makes me giggle. If anyone else had heard how Nye spoke to me, they would probably have seen him as a massive threat to my life. Total opposite, Nye would burn himself alive before hurting me. But this is how our relationship developed. It's a dark, primal banter, flirting if you will. I gaze at him adoringly, and he leans in to place his forehead on mine. Each of my husbands were dressed handsomely, you never would have thought there was a beast underneath their flesh.

Nye looks up, then scoffs, "Well, there's your knight in golden armor." I turn around to see Aneth. He wore a golden silk top, a v-cut, tapered black pants, and solid black boots. My heart beats a mile a minute. I race up to him, and he catches me in his arms.

"Hm, did I miss anything?" he asks as he sets me down. I take his hand, "Nope. You're the main event."
