Is that what you think when I'm with Koa or Aneth, not you?” Nye locks eyes with me. “Dragons have a hierarchy. The leader of the males is the one with whom the female spends the most time. Koa and Aneth know this.” I cross my arms, “That makes no sense. I want to get to know all of you.” “Too bad,” Nye says, his eyes are unwavering. “If they can’t beat me in a fight, you won’t.” I chuckle, unbelieving the nature of these creatures. “So if you were to be “dethroned” by Aneth or Koa. I'd be spending more time with them?” “It's our nature. To be a leader you must be powerful, if not you don't deserve to be there. Someone else will take it.” Nye says this as if it's a binding oath. Well, that's great. It will take me forever to get to know Koa and Aneth more than on a surface level. “You irk me.” I cross my arms over my chest. Nye did get under my skin, but I liked it. Am I sick in the head? Maybe. “Darling, you take me for someone who needs your approval for what I do. You should know by now that I do not.” Nye smirks at me. I roll my eyes. “Then buckle up 'cause you're going to have a butt load of shit to deal with on this ride, honey.” I walk past him, purposefully exaggerating the sway of my hips. Bite it, big guy.

Chapter 15

~Kamari~

Watching Koa fight for Nye's position made me feel helpless. They were all my spouses, but now I realize that the fight to be in the lead position is endless, and it doesn't matter if you are at a disadvantage. Fairness didn't sway the instinct to be the top dog.

Good Goddess, I can't look…

Nye only made himself vulnerable to save Aneth, deep down he had to know what he was doing could cost him, but I asked him to. Deciding I had to, I turned around and saw Koa over Nye a bloody mess on the floor, his arms laid to his sides as if surrendering. My heart plummets, "Nye," I try to reach out to him, but Koa snaps at me.

I gasp and step back. Nye coughs, "Don't be stupid, Kamari." He turns on his side and starts to groan. "You listen to Koa now."

I bite my lip. This happened so fast, and it was hard to wrap my head around it. I didn't know whether to be okay with it or be angry at Koa. My view of Nye gets blocked by Koa, who stands tall before me. I swallow hard, "Why couldn't you wait…" Nye did a risky thing to keep Aneth alive, and I thought it would be considered honorable. I guess not.

Koa closes the distance between us, he takes my chin in between his forefinger and thumb. I feel him snake his arm around my waist and pull me in. Koa's lips barely touched mine, as if he was taking my breath away. I'm yearning for his touch and anticipating the incoming kiss. I close my eyes as my heart thunders in my chest, but when I don't feel the softness of his lips, I open my eyes. And see a soft smirk on Koa's face.

My face flushes as if I'd been exposed. Koa backs up, locking eyes with me, his gaze undressing me. Who in Kadea's Grace is this? Nye wasn't kidding when he said Koa was sneaky. He went under the radar. I should have listened. Not only that but did he just tease me?!

My inner Halort screams…

I watch as Koa calls Aneth and does the same ritual Nye did for him. It amazed me that within seconds, Koa became the leader. This was something I'd have to get used to. But I still had to teach Koa and Aneth things quickly if I wanted to get anywhere.

"Koa," I say in a soft voice, "I have three months to make this Kingdom a godly place, and I need to teach you and Aneth. Will you let me do that?" Koa's brows furrow, and then he looks at Nye. Of course, Nye wasn't in the mood to help. Koa strides over and grabs Nye by the throat.

I was not used to seeing this kind of dynamic, Goddess help me it was almost funny…

"Talk," Koa growls; Nye starts chuckling, "I'm not allowed to talk back, remember- Oof!"

Koa knees Nye in the jaw, "Swallow your tongue then." Koa says through his teeth; then he grabs my books and some of my paintings. He gives me some of the books, "We learn fast. Come."

I sighed. I didn't want to leave Nye behind, but I also knew he'd get angry if I didn't. I followed Koa to the Pool area, and Aneth wasn't far behind. Koa grabbed my blankets and moved them into his area. I called it his "area" because no one else used it like he did.

As I set up my things, I didn't know where to start. One at a time would be better. Koa came and sat on my blankets with me. He was more willing than Nye to do this, leading me to wonder why.

"I have a question." I sat cross-legged. Why were you okay with Aneth and you learning, and Nye wasn't?"

Koa smiles at his lap, "Nye, can be selfish."

I purse my lips together, "Yes. I know, but don't you feel that way about me?"

Koa starts swirling his fingers in the sand like a zen garden, and as he begins to speak, I can see his mind sifting through words, "In the water I travel alone. We are bred to be alone. No mate, no family." He pauses, and the symbols he draws mesmerize me. "Nye found me close to death. Saved me to be part of his Pride. Aneth came before me."

"Pride? Is that what a group of Dragons is called?"

"Yes."

It was bittersweet to learn a little of the history behind Nye and Koa, even though Koa dethroned him. "So Nye started this?"

"He did."

"That surprises me. He hates everyone." I chuckle.

"Not us. And not you." Koa says, locking eyes with me. "We are brothers."

They sure acted like it. I sigh, then pick up a book. "Well, you're speaking pretty good, but I think you could work on expressing your personality more."

Koa furrows his brow, "Personality?"

"Yeah, you know Nye to do certain things; he has habits and things that make him. You have that, too." I took two different-colored books and showed them to him.

"Pick a color you like."

Koa glances at the blue and purple books. He makes a face at the purple one and points at the blue one, "This one."

"Now you can say you like blue. It's a choice, a preference."

Koa half-smiles with his dimples and looks at me as if he's trying to figure out something. "I'm almost scared to ask, but what are you thinking about?"

There's a slight pause before he says, "You."

"What about me?"

"Your eyes."

I chuckle, "Yeah, I know. Their violet-"

"Beautiful," Koa interrupts as he scoots closer to me. A flush of heat flows through my body like a young girl next to her crush. Koa tucks a piece of hair behind my ear; he notices my pierced ears.

"What is this?" He asks.

"It's called an earring. Jewelry is a popular thing for humans." I instantly got an idea. "Do you want one?"

I catch a glimmer in Koa's eyes, "Yes. I do."

"Stay here; I'll be right back." I didn't take long to find a pair of small golden hoop earrings and a needle. When I came back, Koa flipped through the red book pages.

"You guys must like the romance stuff. Or it might just be the pictures…" I say aloud with an excited grin, "Come on, sit here."

I tap the ground in front of me. Koa slides over, and I sanitize my needle with Calea's concoction. Then I get ready to pierce Koa's ear. " Are you ready?"

"Yes."

"It might sting," I warned before I stuck the needle through the cartilage of his ear and slipped the hoop through. I turned his face towards me, "Oh wow." The gold complemented his dark green hair and sharp features. If I didn't know any better, he could be a sexy pirate.

"Go look in the water's reflection," I say eagerly. Koa walks over, and it only takes him a second to return.

"Another," Koa says.

"Another one? Are you sure?"

"Yes."

Five small golden hoops now lined the cartilage of Koa's ear. And I loved it. "It should be obvious that a Dragon would look good in Gold," I said aloud. Koa smiled at me, and then he winked.

Butterflies swirl in my gut. Throughout the evening until dusk, I worked with Koa and Aneth and started to see their differences. Koa observed. He was quiet until you asked him a question or Aneth got on his nerves, which often happened. Aneth liked to provoke Koa, and it sometimes ended with Aneth getting sucker punched in the face or, worse, Koa dragging him to his pool to attempt to drown him.

Thankfully, I could talk him out of it.

"Okay, I can't think anymore. I'm tired." My brain pounded against my skull. Koa started tugging on my hair. I slightly turned to see what he was doing, and I saw the massive knot in my hair start to unravel. I gasped, "Oh, thank you!" I forgot about it.

"It was hideous," Koa says. I noticed Koa liked things that were pretty, shiny, and stylish. I had him pick out an outfit from the bag of clothes. Koa picked a silk white shirt with a V-cut, sleek brown pants, and glossy-looking boots. But there was one thing I wanted to do with his hair.

"I want to put one braid in your hair. Can I?" I bite my lip in anticipation. Koa slides over to me, "As long as you don't knot it."

I give him a pressed-lipped smile, "I've been braiding my whole life. You have nothing to worry about." After braiding a section of his hair, I feel like I've completed a work of art. I sit back, just admiring him. Koa notices and turns to me, "I like that look on your face."

"Oh?" I give him a playful smile. I look up at the cave crystals. They glisten at night and glow a beautiful light blue. It felt as if I lived in another world. When I look back at Koa, his eyes glow that hypnotic color again.

"Your eyes always do that when you look at me. Why?" I tilt my head to the side.

"It happens when I want to lure something towards me." His gaze deepens, "Is it working?" He smirks.

I give him a bitten-lip smile. Being with Koa made me feel as if I'd jumped into another world—and maybe I had. Koa never lived on the surface until now. All he knew was the way of life in water. Now, his personality is starting to emerge from the depths. And Goddess help me, I might drown in it…

I crawl to him, "And what would you do with me if it was?" I get inches from his face like he did to me earlier, a brush away from his lips, "Eat me?"

I feel the heat of his breath, and the intensity in his eyes grows. Yet he seems to hold back what he wants to say to me. "Koa, I know you want to say something. You won't scare me off if you do. I like hearing your voice…"

His arm hooks around my waist, pulling me closer. "I would," Koa says in a raspy voice. Goddess, I can't help myself. As I go in for a kiss, Koa backs away from me, a trace of a smile on his face. "Nye has already claimed your lips." His gaze ventures down my body until it lands on my lower half. He looks up, grinning like a devil. "I want to taste you at your core."

I knew what he meant, but I never did it before…

Not that I didn't want to, but being stuck in a castle made your options very limited.

"Lay on your back," He leans into me with a haze in his glowing eyes. My body shivers as I lay down for him. Although my mind sees how he got this idea, the red book pops into my head. Damn, those pictures…

Koa settles himself in between my legs. He gently spreads my thighs, his hand trails, and I can feel my center pulsing. He pulls my underwear down, takes them off, and throws them into the water.

As I'm about to speak, Koa shushes me with his finger. "Those are mine now."

I might be soaking these furs already…

I suddenly feel his fingers exploring me. His eyes locked on my center, and the feeling of being completely exposed to him gave me chills. The soft strokes of his fingers make me moan, but I try to keep quiet. He slides a finger inside of me and I lean up, I wanted to watch him play with me.

Koa gives me a couple of good strokes with his fingers, and when they come out, I almost whimper to have them back. Then I watch as he admires the glossiness on his fingers. He takes them into his mouth and tastes it. He licks his lips,"Mm," I hear him moan in his throat. Koa leans into my ear and with a husky voice says, "I want him to hear you scream."

He grabs my hips and lays down between my legs. And when I feel the heat of his tongue, my mind goes blank, that with the flurry of pleasure. Goddess that tongue of his, was so good, I couldn't help but roll my hips against it. My hands entangled in his hair as he devoures me. I feel his groan ripple through my body.

And when I feel his tongue slip inside me, my body starts to shake, I gasp, gripping his hair tighter. "Please, don't stop," I cry out.

And when he does the opposite, I literally feel I could kill him. Then one of his hands grips my throat, and his eyes penetrate me from below, "Beg me." His voice is full of Sin.

I plead to him, "Oh Goddess, please, Koa."

He grips my throat tighter, "Repeat my name." He growls.

"Please, Koa," The satisfaction on this man's face destroys me. As his tongue slides back inside of me, I lose it. The rush of pleasure surges through me so hard I start shaking. I could pass out, but I don't; instead, I lay still, paralyzed by ecstasy.

Koa lies by my side, caresses my flushed cheek, and finally kisses me. His kiss pulls me in like a tide; its slowness and sensuality make me crave more.

And if I wasn't exhausted before all of this, I was passing out tonight.
