Karak takes all the responsibility

When the high-ranking officers and administration die, the low-ranking officers and administration will automatically surrender to the KGB. Although those outside the system may not know what is happening, they know the fear.

Andropov is reporting his progress on the purge.

"Comrade Secretary, the internal forces and KGB have now controlled Tashkent, most of the 'Rashidov clan' members have been arrested, and only some are still hiding, but I believe, not long later, they will too meet the other members."

Brezhnev did not say anything but only nodded his head.

"Comrade Secretary, if there is nothing else, I will leave first."

"No, Andropov, I have something else I want to discuss with you."

He was shocked and wondered what else he wanted to discuss with him now. During the investigation, he had discovered many unspeakable secrets.

"Yes, Comrade Secretary."

"I just wanted to ask, did our enemies really that strong, able to mind control so many of our high-rank officers, do the KGB have any evidence to prove that?"

Andropov feels nervous. To get permission to use internal forces on Tashkent, he lies to Brezhnev, stating that the enemies have mind-controlled the 'Rashidov clan' and that it needs to be purged. After all, how would the biggest corruption group survive in the country for so many years? There must be something under the table.

Brezhnev's son-in-law was part of it, another reason why Brezhnev has turned a blind eye in the past few years. In fact, Brezhnev and his family were the biggest corruption group in the country,

"Yes Comrade Secretary, I have a man, called Alexei Chernov, who was once a task force commander who is ready to infiltrate Afghanistan and launch a decapitation operation on Amin. He then participated in battles in Leningrad and Baltic States, and lastly became one of the members that went to the Karak to be a military observer."

"He returned recently, but in the routine inspection, something happened to him. Luckily, he survived and woke up not long later, he stated that he first experienced someone trying to fight him for control of his body and wanting to see through his eyes, and after failing, there was a whisper in his brain asking him to give up, but luckily he has a heart of steel, causing the whisper fail to control his body."

"Comrade Secretary, this happened when Colonel Chernov was staying in the room specially made to prevent our enemies' magic, yet it still works on him."

Brezhnev frowns, it is horrible to hear that.

"I heard many officers have died in different ways in these few days, does they related to any of our enemies?"

"Yes Comrade Secretary, one thing I would like to add is when Colonel Chernov experienced all these things, he suffered great pain, I believe another reason why the whisper did not take over his body is because of the affection of the room. Tashkent and other parts of the country, it wasn't built with such room at the beginning, so it gives a chance for our enemies to infiltrate them. When they infiltrate, some who don't have a good body will die in different ways."

Where would a place be safe if the enemies could mind-controlled a high-ranking officer anywhere in the country?

"Wait, how can I be sure you aren't being controlled by the enemies, and that your purge in Tashkent isn't aimed at diminishing our SSR power? Your reasoning has some logical flaws, why didn't those in Tashkent die?" Andropov feels somewhat speechless, as Brezhnev harbours suspicions about him.

"Our scientists have developed new devices that can detect individuals infiltrated by our enemies. This has helped us identify and monitor those who continue to travel to and from Sevastopol and Karak."

"Regarding why the officers in Tashkent were not significantly affected, the KGB suspects it may be due to the desert conditions in Uzbekistan and Turkistan, as well as the distance, which nerf our enemy's magic, causing them to get control without experiencing much pain."

"We are still diligently working with the army and officers in Turkistan to ensure that no one has been mind-controlled."

Brezhnev after listening to the words slapped angrily on the table.

"So this is all the Karak responsible for? How ridiculous, that they will treat us like this, we should begin a war with them immediately, or else these locals think that we are easy to bully. First the orcs and undead, then the human kingdom, who will be the next?"

"Yes, the Karak take full responsibility. But it is still not a suitable time for war, I worry that they infiltrate our army as well, give us some time to check, perhaps we can do something to threaten them."

"Yes, you are right, maybe we should launch a few missiles to fly over their countries, or conduct a few nuclear tests to sea near them."

"No worries comrade secretary, the KGB already doing something, our infiltration and espionage in the Karak are successful. The next few steps are just to continue our propaganda, the Karak don't even realize how destructive are our propaganda. Maybe I can discuss with the Navy Admiral about conducting a military exercise on the nearshore."

Andropov noted that if there is anything more challenging than anti-corruption, it would be anti-corruption under Brezhnev's watch. He also feels no sympathy for the Karak, as they attempted to mind-control their high-ranking officers. Controlling one is control, controlling a few thousand is also control.

Just when he wanted to leave the room,

"Ah Andropov, have you ever realised that you have become more and more powerful, just like Beria in the past, you are controlling Internal Affairs and also the KGB, you know everyone is scared of a 'powerful person'. Just a notification for you, I will find someone to take over the Minister of Internal Affairs from you."

"Alright, Comrade Secretary."

Andropov left the room in fear. When other people lie, most of the sentences they say are true, with only a small portion being lies, but he was just the opposite. He can't imagine what happen if Brezhnev found him lying, perhaps just don't let it happen. Army and KGB were on his side, what can Brezhnev do even if he find out?
