Family related by love and not blood

A few minutes after Song Xia hopped her way from the bathroom and lay on the bed she heard two female voices outside the door.

"Aunt, will they really put Song Xia in a care facility?'' This was Jin Yu who sounded distressed.

''We'll make a plan, Aunt has 20000 yuan savings that we'll use to put Xiao Xia in a good place until she recovers." The exhausted voice of her aunt made Jin Yu feel upset.

"Is Song Xia's foster mother not going to help with the medical expenses or even come see her ?" Jin Yu inquired while wondering why Luo Jingfei had never visited Song Xia in the hospital.

"I already called her, but she said since I contended for Song Xia's guardianship 2 months ago when they wanted to switch of the life support machines that anything to do with Song Xia has nothing to do with her."

Her Aunt simply stated as if she had given up all expectations from Luo Jingfei.

Jin Yu felt disgusted. Song Xia's foster mother was shameless even worse than Gao Hong who was a known bully at school. She had no sense of responsibility or compassion even though Song Xia was her foster daughter for two years.

"Xiao Yu, don't worry,"Shi Qi said as she gently held her hand, "Aunt ,will manage . We just need to pray and look after Song Xia''

Song Xia felt touched when she heard their concern for her.

The room door was pushed open and a high school girl and a women in her late twenties walked in.The high school girl cute ,petite with large,innocent eyesand her hair pulled back in a high ponytail. The women was attractive with a somewhat elegant and glamorous style but had noticeable black circles around her eyes that could not be covered up with makeup. They both looked wary and exhausted.

"Aunt,Xiao Yu"

Song Xia felt a bit awkward when she called out to them which soon faded away when she saw the pure joy reflecting in their eyes.

When Shi Qi and Jin Yu saw Song Xia awake they were shocked they almost believed they were in a dream or hallucinating.

The doctor had said although Song Xia was off life support it was highly unlikely she would wake up therefore they had recommended sending to a care facility as it would be better for her and less expensive as staying in the hospital.

'Song Xia ....you're awake...you're awake....''shouted Jin Yu as she rushed up to hug her. She gave her a gentle hug and burst into tears while muttering "Finally..."under her breath.

Shi Qi slowly walked to the bed and gently held Song Xia's hand without saying a word. "Aunt I'm awake,'' Song Xia said gently squeezing her hand to comfort her.

Shi Qi's eyes shorn with unshed tears as she gently said, "Welcome back Xiao Xia"

Jin Yu broke out of her trace and ran to the door "I'll go get a doctor.''

Soon a doctor walked in and looked at Song Xia like a modern day miracle before performing a medical exam and stated that a neurologist would be in to see her soon. After a battery of tests and an army of doctors it was concluded that Song Xia was fine but would need 6 weeks to fully recover and physiotherapy was recommended take gain full function of her broken leg. The bone had healed but the muscles still needed to recover Song Xia could leave the hospital after a few days and could go for physiotherapy sessions at a local clinic.

The apartment building that Shi Qi live in was close to her office building in the central business district. It was old,worn and in need of renovations but she had bought an apartment they for the easy commute and convenience . The inside of the apartment Shi Qi's apartment was elegant but comfortable. There were two bedrooms, a bathroom, a small living room and kitchenette .

Shi Qi lived alone and had offered to take guardianship of Song Xia. She had the extra room and made the decision to foster her.

In the bedroom allocated to Song Xia was a single bed covered with a sunflower duvet,a single study desk and chair as well as a small dresser. It was clean,neat and had a lively atmosphere.

''Xiao Xia,rest for a while and then come out for lunch. Your clothes are in the wardrobe some of it is Xiao Yu's so the pants might be a little short. We'll buy more new clothes soon.''

The white wardrobe had a numerous pairs of jeans, 3 jacket, t- shirts,pajamas, new underwear and a new brand new - still in plastic , garment bag -school blazer.

Song Xia felt moved she could see how carefully ShiQi had thought about her room and wardrobe.

''Aunt , I don't need any new clothes. What I have in the wardrobe is enough.'' Song Xia felt sorry for Shi Qi who was so kind to her.

Shi Qi had given her a home and fought for her when she had no support in this unknown world. She didn't want Shi Qi to spend too much money on her.

Although Song Xia had insisted on paying her own medical bills and currently only had 5000 yuan in her account she knew Shi Qi had secretly taken care of many additional expenses.

Shi Qi had become a precious family member in her heart and sincerely take as her aunt although her soul was actually older than her at age 30 while Shi Qi was only 28 years old.

''No, Xiao Xia, most of your things are still at your previous foster home and Luo Jingfei refused to return your belongings.'' Shi Qi became upset as she thought of that heartless women.

Song Xia went through the original's memories and realized that there was nothing of much value or use at Luo Jingfei's house.

The original Song Xia was afraid of the mother and daughter's thieving hearts so she constantly carried her valuables and money in her schoolbag which was with her at the time of the accident and Jin Yu had given it back to her at the time of the hospital.

''But it's ...''she started speaking when Shi Qi cut her off.

''No''Shi Qi insisted. She had decided to protect this young child who was all alone in this world. Her foster mother was heartless and who knows if she might meet someone worse in the future.

When she decided to be this young girl's manager she did not know that she might become a guardian to her but her sense of responsibility and affection towards her turned into familial love.

She was Jin Yu's biological aunt, but she now felt that same love and bond towards Song Xia.Both her sister and herself were both orphans and her brother-in law passed on early therefore they had always been a small family of three. Now that she had accepted Song Xia as her niece naturally she would want to give her the best possible things.Song Xia did not try and argue anymore but decided to return Shi Qi's heartfelt sincerity and try her best to repay her in the future.
