Twenty Four

After getting ready for the day, I texted my little sister for a favor. From her quick reply, she was game on the plan of taking Lenna and Gavin out shopping. But, I was not letting them head home empty-handed. Once I had that settled, I glanced at the silent apartment and heard no sounds from the bedroom.

Thinking about what had happened last night, a lot of things were running through my mind, so I decided to head out to grab my morning coffee. It was best to get caffeine in my system as I faced the day ahead.

Safely reaching the apartment building lobby, I pulled out my phone and called Luke. He answered on the second ring. “Morning, boss. What’s with the early call?”

“I’m heading to the coffee shop near my apartment. After that, I’ll drive to work today with Lenna and Gavin. But I didn’t call to tell you this.”

“Why did you call?”

I prolonged the pause before replying, “I did something last night.”

“What did you do? I was with you for the most part of yesterday.”
