As an ordinary college sophomore student, Alec Norman always focused on making sure he get good grades to graduate in flying colours. While Alec's school project demanded that he bought a Virtual Reality headset, he stumbled on a pawn shop and met an old man who gifted him a retro VR headset, a headset which he accepted begrudgingly. What he didn't know was that the VR headset he brought to his home would change the way he understood reality forever. Inspired from the novel 48 Hours a Day!
Alec signed and wore his worn out slippers, but he didn't go yet. Turning back, he said, "You can starve me for two days, and I can still wor for you". The old man shook his head. "Not interested".
F*** this game, Alec swore with ire. "You think I would stay here and watch you overwork me to almost-dead, and now you are sending me away? That's not how things work in my place. I fetch a water that would last you for a full week, and you didn't provide something of equal value? I am not leaving, not until you really payback everything down to the last penny", he raged.
The man raised his wrinkled eyelids up and stare at Alec in the eyes. There was a standoff for a minute, and each of the party was not willing to take off their eyes as a sign of submission.
After what seemed like forever, the old man smiled and spat out the shards of sticks to the environment. "What's your name?" The old man asked. "Alex Newman", he said.
