As an ordinary college sophomore student, Alec Norman always focused on making sure he get good grades to graduate in flying colours. While Alec's school project demanded that he bought a Virtual Reality headset, he stumbled on a pawn shop and met an old man who gifted him a retro VR headset, a headset which he accepted begrudgingly. Alec wrote his last exam and prepared to leave his hostel. As much as he hated to do it, he wanted to honor his father's request. As soon as he packed his last cloth, he checked himself in the mirror and adjusted his hair.
He stared at his reflection for a long time and felt complicated. As his innocent and calm face stared back at him, he wondered how things would have been if he hadn't decided to pass that shortcut.
His original self would have been determined to pass the exam and climb to his third year. But he felt different. He didn't wish to continue schooling again, nor does he wish to continue playing this game.
It was like his priorities were messed up bad. Turning away, he left his hostel and walked to a taxi junction, and told him his destination. Before long, he found himself at the airport.
