The real meaning of love [Editing]

“Al. Can we talk?” “Sure,” he says, glancing at me he adds, “When did you get yourself that?” I look at him. Knowing, how things are at stake right now. How much this self-absorbed fool, one I’d always just want to run into and go visit 'Sparkling City' all the time, would one day have the capability to make my heartbeat. SO FAST. “Ahh,” looking at the bandage on my ankle I shift a little and look at him as I answer, “I tripped while running after the kids.” “You—” He looked as if it pissed him, I could tell. Kneeling, he softly brushes his finger over it. “Stupid.” “Al I was just running and didn’t see when I hit on a stone.” He looks up, his finger still gently on the area I had bandaged. “That’s why you are stupid.” Swerving my leg out of his hold, I call him off. “Firstly I am not stupid. And people trip, it’s normal.” Getting up, he says, “Normally people look where they are stepping before stupidly tripping themselves you know?” *** Lisa* “I want him to know. But. . .just friends don’t say these stuffs to each other. They don’t have butterflies and dragon battles in their stomach seeing each other.” What do you do when you can't even say you like the guy you like? Because he might just not, and that would only ruin your friendship with him. Luc* 'I love you, so?' "Loving a person you know you can't have is. . . It's even more difficult than the word difficult itself." And what happens when the only girl you've been liking for ages, starts dating your bestfriend? *** Hey, it's your author here:> P.S: the cover picture doesn't belong to me. Hope y'all enjoy your time reading it

Call at school

"Dude- that was so intense," Maria says as we leave our classroom. "He is such a jackass," I say as we stroll along the long corridor, among all the halls. "He is." Lucas nods, bobbing his head he continues, "He isn't sure of what he says."

"Huh-brainless fool," I add. "Ah right-" I say, turning towards Maria and Lucas both simultaneously. "Hey, how was both of your holidays?"

Turning to Maria first, I look at her as she replies, "It was so awesome!" I love this, about Maria. She is so adorable, especially when she speaks enthusiastically.

I giggle at her words, "It was just spectacular! Oh, and I met a guy, there." I and Lucas both looked at each other, raising a brow simultaneously. We then both broke down into peals of gleeful laughter, together.

"And-?" Lucas asks her as we continue chuckling. "He was a tanned, tall, well-built guy," Maria says, with nostalgically dreamy eyes, as if she is sculpturing his portrait with the transient blinks of her eyes. "He said I was the most gorgeous girl, he had ever seen."

"Did he-?" Lucas asks, as I slap his arm I say to Maria, "Of course, he would go nuts over my bestie's unblemished loveliness!"

"So, he was with you all of your time in Spain?" Lucas asks her, from beside me. "Yes-and."

"And-?" I ask her.

"Guys, do you know what 'Te Quiero means?" Maria asks, looking at us both.

"Huh? What was that?"I ask Maria. Glancing at the guy beside me, scrolling something on his phone, I ask him, "Luc?"

"Hmm?" He says absently.

I take the phone out of his hands and ask him, "Luc, you know the meaning of this phrase?"

"What phrase?" He asks, looking at me. I wanted to believe he heard it, but looking at his eyes made it hard to judge. "That-that thing, the one Maria just said." He squints his eyes, even more as I speak.

'Seriously?!'

'He better not be making me do it, on purpose, because he knows I suck with speaking a foreign language, one I don't know. And I didn't know the Spanish tongue!

Glimpsing at Maria, I find her softly chuckling at us. "What-what was that again?" I ask her.

She looks at me and smiles as she says in an unhurried manner, "Te qui-e-ro."

"Yes yes," Turning towards Lucas I say, "Heard it?" He looks at me with a look that seems to say you-will-say-it-now. "What-why are you looking at me like that, now?" I ask him, as he stares at me with his clogged dark blue eyes.

"Alright-" I say to him, with an aggravated look. "What is the meaning of Te-qu-ro," I ask him, stumbling with pronouncing the particular Spanish phrase.

"What?" Lucas asks again. I grit my teeth as I repeat to him, "Te-que-ro'

"Yo tambien te amo?" he asks me. 'What is he saying? Does he not hear me?!'

"Te-que-ro," I reiterate to him.

"Lisa!" Kevin and Cal came running to us. "Maira, Lucas" They address them both, too. "Yes, guys, what's up?" Maria asks the two. "There is a call for Lisa."

"Me-?" I ask, pointing my index finger at me. "Yes,"

"Well, whos' calling me, in the school telephone?!" I glance at Maria and Lucas and from their expressions, they wonder the same too.

Walking into, an expansive room, filled with sofas and people talking, I go to the furthermost corner of the room. "I had a call, Mrs Pepcer?" I ask our manager.

She looks at me and says, "Oh-yes Lisa," gesturing to the black telephone she says, "It's your uncle," she says, " he's on the line."

"Ah alright," I say to her with a smile, "Thank you, Mrs Pepcer."

Taking the black receiver into my hands, I say, "Hello?"

"Hey!" Someone beams from the other end. And my brain was no stranger to the voice from the other end of the line. "He-" I stop as I realise Mrs Pepcer, was peeking at me in an act of rustling through papers. Her scrutinizing gaze was killing me-

"Yes yes Uncle-" what do I call him? "Josh!"

"Yes Uncle Josh," I said.

"Dude-" And the darned guy laughs when I have to go through so much trouble to talk to him. "How are you?" I say eyeing her again How is Aunt Daisy?"

"Ahh-I am fine, just missing you guys, and dude seriously daisy? You still love daises so much?!" he mocks, as he breaks down into a series of a chuckle.

'This guy-' My limit of patience is getting slimmer and thinner.

"OH MY GOD!" I cry out at the phone. "How did that happen?!" I glanced back at Mrs Pepcer, and she is still staring at me, just a little sharper than before.

I say to her, "My pregnant aunt got into an accident!" Glancing at her, and seeing how she believed in that, I say to her, gesturing to the phone in my hand, "Can I please just have a moment in private with my uncle?"

"Yes yes-" She readily agreed. "Thank you," I genuinely thank her, before sliding inside a door, on the last corner of the room.

"Woh" I pant, 'It is a relief,'

"Was it too hard?" I know he must be smirking now. "Shut up! And don't smirk!"

"You know me so well!" he says, chuckling. "That I do," I say, in a larghetto manner. "Right," I tell him, "Why did you call me now when you know I'd be in school?"

"That's why I called in the school telephone," he replies, "Because I knew, you'd be in school, now."

"Dude," I can feel my blood boiling, hot red now. "I am at school, now. It's break time and I am supposed to EAT, but no-I have this friend of mine who keeps on sabotaging all the peace and happiness from my life."

He then leisurely says, "Hey, don't-"before continuing, "Don't say it like that."

"Then how do I say it? You don't call nor text, nor do you heed our calls or texts, when we contact you. And now, here I am being forced to talk to you, just because you called me?!" I say to him,

"What-what do you think of yourself huh? Who gives you the right to make us feel pathetic? You know, Lucas and Maria miss you so much, they always talk about you."

"Don't you miss me?" he blurts.

Hearing him say that, I now feel an urge in me that wants to shout to him, 'Don't you know?!', but instead I reply to him, "Nope-excluding me, all of our gang members miss you."

"Gang members? What are we?-part of a murder clan?" He chuckles again. "Hey, stop now," I say, peeved at his remarks.

"Fine." He says, before murmuring, "I missed you too,"

"Why me? I didn't miss you. Tell that line to the others." I say to him. 'Did it sound too cruel?'

"I want you to know that," He says with a soft tone. And he just made my heart melt, ah-'maybe I can forgive him?' I think that, until he says, "Lizzy,"

"Ah come on-what a facetious person you've become, Alastair!" I call him off. "Hahaha-" He laughs handsomely, before saying, "Did I? Hmm-maybe because, I don't have my good-natured Rosie with me, now."

"Yeah yeah, right." I ridicule his remarks.

"Hey-Alas!" A girl's coquettish voice calls him. "Hey-" I ask him, "You've got a girlfriend?!"

"You've become quite nefarious now, Lisa." He says, trying to brush off what I want to say. I sneer as I reply, "Yes yes, that I have, maybe to you because now- of course, your girlfriend would be the best one out of all the others."

"Hah," He says to me, "You sound. . . envious."

"Me? Huh-see what I said, about your girl, being the best of all the other girls out there?!" I add, demonstrating the point I wanted to make earlier, with him.

"Come on Al, what are you doing?!" The same female voice nudged him again.

"I guess you should really go now," I say with a giggle. "Yes, I guess." He says with a sigh, 'Woah, is he blushing now? Ahh-I wish I could see him, now!' I giggle to myself as I think of his blush which I have not seen in the last two years.

"Tell me all the details about her, later. Okay?" I remind him. "Ah come on, it's nothing like that!" He says to me, "Duh, as if I'll believe that!" I say and even though I know he won't see me doing it-I roll my eyes.

"Fine," he says, in a sulky tone. "Alright, go now then,"

"Hmm," he hums a goodbye, "Bye," But then I call him, in haste. "Wait!"

"Why?" he asks. "I want to say something," I say to him.

"What is it?" He asks in a cool manner. "I miss you too" I slowly mumble.

"Hah-I miss you, as well." He chuckles with a last, "Bye, I'll call you later."

"Alright, bye," I say to him, before ending the call with a smile.
