Born of the wastelands, Spheris Arnadel, a young skilled thief, finds himself subject to a twist of fate when he steals a powerful relic and becomes a Bearer — humans gifted with powers from the Gods. As a punishment for his theft, he is cast into an otherworldly realm alongside other Bearers, where he faces off against monstrous beasts and powerful enemies. Yet, in his determination to return to the Continent and save his dying mother, Spheris is hell-bent on surviving the abyssal world. Even if it means giving his body to the Dark God whose powers he had stolen... even if it means losing all of his humanity.
Clebert's face contorted in realization. "Oh, yes! I was one of the Bearers that found you when you came out of the Bridge."
Spheris's frown did not go away.
"I'm not the one who made you sleep!" Clebert announced, excluding himself from possible payback. "That was Master Morrigan. He had his reasons, but it's still invasive to do something like that."
Now, Spheris raised a silent brow and returned to filling his tray with cakes and kawasina rolls from the desert section. "You still haven't told me what you want, Clebert."
"I wanted to make your acquaintance, you know... formally." Clebert took a spoonful of tomato stew and poured it into his tray. "I am really inspired by you, and it pretty much took all of my courage to walk up to you."
Spheris turned to him once again, saying nothing but gazing straight to his face.
Clebert gulped, then looked down at his tray. "Are you going to finish all of that?"
