Born of the wastelands, Spheris Arnadel, a young skilled thief, finds himself subject to a twist of fate when he steals a powerful relic and becomes a Bearer — humans gifted with powers from the Gods. As a punishment for his theft, he is cast into an otherworldly realm alongside other Bearers, where he faces off against monstrous beasts and powerful enemies. Yet, in his determination to return to the Continent and save his dying mother, Spheris is hell-bent on surviving the abyssal world. Even if it means giving his body to the Dark God whose powers he had stolen... even if it means losing all of his humanity.
Spheris stiffened, feeling his own thoughts crashing against him as he attempted to understand the Tyrant's words. "Wha... What are you talking about?"
"You have somehow succeeded in creating a telepathic conduit with your own mind from the future. And because of this conduit, I manifest against my own will to explain to you the complications of things... to remind you of it."
Spheris's brows knitted, unsure of whether to believe the Twilight Tyrant or not. Was he one to lie? Yes. But he knew that his own words were forever nuanced — truths in his lies, and lies in his truths.
However, would he lie to himself, or at least a manifestation of his past self?
Spheris let out a silent breath. It didn't matter whether or not the Tyrant was lying, it only mattered if he was telling the truth. Because that would mean that this version of him knew something, something he could tell him, something that could help him.
