Chapter 31: Mess To Make

Kinsley’s POV

I pace the length of the kitchen, frustrated and fragile. The bracelets have drained me to the point that I cannot feel my wolf anymore. It nags at me endlessly, almost like Conner’s eyes are on me from the living room nearby.

I think of Terron, of our lives when this ordeal ends, and of course it has to end. I just hope it doesn’t lead to an unnecessary war between Ace and my mate. If they clash, my father wins.

“Come sit down, Kinsley,” Conner calls, patting the couch where he sits.

I roll my eyes and ignore his beckoning pleas. I have no interest in explaining my loyalty to him again. I belong to Terron, my mating mark is still bold enough to see, and he is crazy if Connor believes this will lead to anything good.

My mate will be furious.

“Kinsley, please,” he beckons again.

I wave his request off. “Just leave me alone, Conner. I can’t talk to you right now.”
