Chapter 6: The Child King

Russell White was only eleven years old. He was more than a decade younger than Queen Mia. However, Russell was not just any eleven-year-old.

In fact, he had been the Prince of Ivory since he was five. The Land of Ivory was not ruled by a King, as he had died from a quick and unforgiving illness. His Queen had been ruling in his place, with the young prince. Russell would only be crowned at the age of sixteen or if he were to marry, whichever came first. For Russell, seeking Queen Mia's hand in marriage was only the most logical thing to do. She was smart, beautiful, older and wiser. Once they get married, he could take the throne and rule his land.

He was confident though he was young, he would grow up to be the man that Queen Mia would need. A stronghold for his lady, sensitive and kind, and he would even be able to take care of her in her old age, being much younger.

He was a wide-eyed precocious child. He was not tall, and his built was slight. His hair was all white, which was a trait that ran within his family.

When he saw Queen Mia, he knew she was the one. She was so beautiful and graceful.

At lunch, he saw the table was long and perhaps it was purposefully long.

"My Queen," he bowed. "May I seek permission to bring my chair closer to you? I would like to sit just right next to you."

He was so polite and adorable. It was impossible to reject such a harmless request.

Mia agreed.

The boy, not yet a man, lifted up his own chair and took it up. He was small but strong. Then he placed his chair next to Mia.

"My Queen, please allow me to serve you lunch."

Mia was taken aback.

"There is no need to, you can try to feel at home."

Indeed, she had let her guard down because he seemed far from being a threat.

"Please allow me to be your friend, even little as I seem to be." Then, he grinned. His perfect row of ivory flashed brightly at Mia. It was impossible to say no to this boy!

It was going to be a lovely lunch after all.
