Chapter 10: Gifts

Peter was obviously disappointed, if not upset with the fact that his lunch date with the Queen was cancelled abruptly. He heard there had been some unfortunate mishap that occurred with the previous suitor who had his breakfast date with the Queen.

He was extremely resourceful and had his ways of obtaining reliable information from the castle and he knew that the gentleman before him had been Darren The Great.

He could not obtain any more information than that and so when he had his lunch date had been cancelled without much explanation, he was furious with Prince Darren. He must have done something to persuade the Queen that there was no need to meet with the other suitors. There must have been some dishonesty, some ploy or some mischief involved.

Still, he was very confident that his gift for the Queen would impress her the next day.

It was an object that he felt best described her, and it was previous and extraordinary enough to be presented to her as a special gift.

He imagined himself presenting the magnificent rock in front of her, a gigantic grey piece spanning two metres tall. He imagined how he would give a speech, and then he would dramatically slice open the rock. The audience would give a gasp. He would turn and see the Queen. He was so curious to find out what would her expression be.

Would it be a look of delight? Or would it be amazement or a mixture of both?

He was so eager to impress her that he wished he could see that look right now.

He imagined how chivalrous he would look, slicing a piece of hard rock open, to reveal the beauty within it. It would be just the analogy to describe her; a tough rock on the outside but glittering gems inside.
