To that end, he also very much wanted to obliterate the sadist who hurt them. The need to stop the guy ate Dakota up. It burned him from the inside out. He wanted to destroy their enemy and be done with it. So long as the danger loomed over their heads, Dakota couldn’t see anything past it, couldn’t entertain the thought of peace and serenity after the fight ended. All he wanted was to keep his little family safe, and kill that fucker, preferably as slowly and painfully as possible.

So, he wasn’t suicidal. Not really. He had too much purpose. Despite that persistent hollow feeling deep inside himself, Dakota could tolerate it in favor of love, acceptance, and of course, the hatred he felt for their nameless foe. He took comfort in knowing he would die eventually whether he tried to or not. But in the meantime, he simply had too many things to do.
