CHAPTER 67: The Psycho In Demon's Clothing

Covered in urine and whatnot, Levi held his breath. His emotions and tastebuds were non-functional; that is why he had quite a keen nose. If he took one breath, he would probably pass out. Slowly walking through the side of the sewer, he pulled himself and looked at his clothes. It was his fault for not realizing that a new sewer would be built on top of the cursed one.

Summoning mana in his hand, he chanted,

"Cleanse."

"Cleanse."

"Cleanse."

A fundamental spell every healer could use as a disinfectant and a cleaning tool for small blood patches. Since the sewage waste was too much, he had to use it three times to get rid of the sewage and the smell. Once he stopped holding his breath, he realized how much the sewage stank.

He immediately started coughing and soon started vomiting right into the sewage.

*Blargh* *Blargh*

He again used the cleansing spell on his mouth and took out the handkerchief from his pocket to block the smell. Later to realise that the handkerchief also had been in his shorts pocket dipped in the sewage.

'Eliza might never accept it if she knows what the handkerchief has gone through'

Thinking that he decided to store the handkerchief in the pocket again.

Since it was too dark to see anything, he used his Hunter eye, which increased his ability to see in the dark. Not complete night vision, but it would do the job. Walking through the tunnel and navigating through it for ten minutes, using his Hunter eye and Sense, he found a spot where he could dig a hole.

He took out a shovel from the ring and hit the ground as hard as he could. He forgot about Newton's law,

"Every action has an equal and opposite reaction,"

as the shock from hitting the mana-enforced floor spread across his entire body. At first, his plan was to get a mana-charged drill, but nobody would sell a drill to a student who didn't have any use for it.

That is why bringing a shovel seemed the best option than a hammer and a nail, but he seemed to overestimate the power of a mere shovel. Coating the shovel in mana, he started hitting the floor, ignoring the shock thrown back at him. Eventually, his essence activated, and he managed to make a small hole through which he could barely squeeze.

Levi made sure to look down before jumping again. He didn't want to be covered in it again. The ground below him was 200 meters deep, and jumping definitely wouldn't be an option if a barrier wasn't covering the Heimen system. He looked at the central eye.

"Go down there and touch the barrier."

Levi was checking if the barrier caused any damage. He could throw a rock, but the barrier could only activate if a mana-induced being touched it. The central eye, using his small bat wings, jumped on the barrier. It looked up and cutely blinked at Levi.

The coast was clear, and Levi sat down, slowly getting his legs down the hole. His lower part went down smoothly, but now his torso was stuck. Wriggling his torso inside the hole, he felt his ribs rub against the rough edges, causing bruises. After ten minutes of struggle, he dropped down.

Within a second, his feet hit the barrier, and he looked down. It felt as if he was levitating. Levi touched the barrier and felt it to be even more resilient than the one blocking the passing of the canal. He created a mirror dagger and ordered, "Weaken the barrier as much as you can."

The eye nodded, and Levi started striking the barrier again and again. Doing this for ten minutes, he managed to make a hole big enough to fit his index finger. Using an explosion from the lesser eyes wouldn't be good because they weren't that powerful, and buying an explosion for him without any legal means was impossible, even if he did, it wouldn't be a high-ranked one. The noise it would create will definitely alert the city guards as well.

Just by not striking the barrier, Levi could see it already starting to regenerate. He made another knife, striking the hole again, using [Essence] and his silk to widen the hole even more. The central eye's power came in handy, and he managed to make a hole within thirty minutes; otherwise, it would take him more than two hours.

The hole this time was a bit bigger than the last one because he didn't have to bruise anything against the sharp-edged barrier and possibly have the chance of ripping his organs off. Since his mana was finished, he took a mana potion and jumped down the hole, making a perfect landing.

Levi then took out the Mask of Ifrit, which he hadn't used for so long and wore it. Immediately, an idea came to his mind. Levi now only had used ninety-four of his lesser eyes to spy on the city and academy. He cancelled the summoning of the five because he could use them when he travelled somewhere and use them as explosives.

Levi summoned one eye and ordered it to go ahead of the path he would tell it.

Now, he didn't need to use the Hunter eye and Sense skill, saving his mana. As he walked through the tunnel, he took out the map Jack gave him. If he had the lesser eyes to navigate, why would he need the map? The reason was for efficiency.

"I could use the lesser eyes to navigate the whole area, but that would take me ages. After all, the Heimen system wasn't made only for Uraltiha but the whole of Uran."

Without the map, it would take him days to find the exact spot. Levi had already found the spot and was using the lesser eyes to check the number of demons, especially a unique one, only found in this area called Flesbold.

Flesbold are small creatures, made from the accumulation of human flesh and intestines. They are a mass of balls, with two hands with three sharp knife fingers, without any facial features. These creatures, at first look, creepy but not dangerous until they sense you. Its hands could turn into melee weapons sharper than steel, easily slicing through a B-rank.

Not only that, any kind of sneaking ability wouldn't work unless a person had the power to be completely invisible. Even if someone was a master at hiding their aura, they wouldn't bypass the Flesbold. But the lesser eye wasn't a human or mana beast. It was a demon.

The Flesbolds were mostly sensitive to any other presence than itself and heat. That is why, Levi had worn light clothes inside this damp and cold area, not to produce any high amount of heat from his body.

As the lesser eyes flew right in front of a thousand Flesbold, none attacked it or even acknowledged its presence. The lesser eye reached the spot after thirty minutes even after its jet-like flight, but it would take him probably two hours. In front of the eye, was something that blocked it from entering, and it couldn't see the other side.

'How many Flesbold did you encounter?'

Levi said to The central eye which then transmitted the message to the lesser eye and then a vice versa process.

[The lesser encountered exactly 1,235,521 numbers of Flesbolds.]

'No wonder, no one tried to clear this space and that number too is located in a distance of fifty kilometres only.'

The place he had to reach was about 50 kilometres long, but the path wasn't straight. It mostly revolved in a circle and went down to the lowest part. The Heimen system wasn't a straight tunnel that turned left and right; it sometimes went up, but most of the time was made to go down. They also could be circular paths, which made Levi question.

"What kind of shi*t would need a poop to pass through a circular tunnel? Not only that, these paths are abnormally large in height."

Levi had never done engineering, but he knew these sewages weren't just made for disposing of waste. It must have had a different purpose which was not mentioned in the game. Now came the hardest part for Levi: to walk through millions of Flesbold, without looking at or enticing even a single one of them.

'I may not value my life, but I don't want to be chomped on into oblivion.'

Levi walked through the path, seeing hundreds of Flesbold, just from a distance. Most of these creatures were sticking onto the wall and onto each other, avoiding the ground, making a path for Levi to walk. As he transferred through the den of man-eaters, they looked at him; though they didn't have eyes, he could feel their hungry gaze. He kept walking, and once he was a few meters away, the Flesbold fifty meters away would lose their focus and become passive.

Like this, he would get the attention of the Flesbolds only for a few seconds, and before they would decide to attack him, he would be too far away to even notice. Usually, these creatures would attack anything human or other creatures in their path, but Levi's game plan worked. He had one thought in his mind when he planned to travel this path.

'How did Brian manage to get through millions of Flesbold, not being an S rank and without any high-level invisibility magic?' The Ancient Crown did increase his power but wouldn't be able to get him past these crowds of Flesbolds. Either he could have invisibility power in the game, which Levi knew wasn't possible after checking his stats when they met, nor did anybody else help him. Otherwise, they would rather get the power than give it to Brian.

The answer was the title "Demon With Hundred Eyes." Once anybody had the power, he had the ability to make demons, though not powerful still demons. That meant nature would consider them somewhat a demon as well. Levi had the Mask of Ifrit, in addition, to further increase the illusion of him being an actual demon. With this title and mask in place, he could fool the Flesbold completely; that's what he thought and did work but not fully.

The Flesbolds were definitely fooled, but if Levi was in their "vision" for too long, they would soon catch onto it. That is why Levi had to move as fast as he could. That is why after he knew his plan was working he started to run as fast as he could. As he had anticipated, it took him two hours of straight running as he safely made it to the spot.

'I should work on my cardio even more.' ]

Levi was basically running a marathon, and only because of [Essence] he didn't lose consciousness and trip. He looked at the lesser eye waiting for him. In a lower voice, he whispered,

"Good job."

And patted its head.

He could feel the stare of the central eye, which was the only one that had received such treatment. He moved his hand and patted its head too. After taking a rest for a minute, he looked at the barrier. A black veil like the one he saw back in Theon's dungeon. It wasn't see-through, and the ray of light being produced by the ball of fire above Levi's head didn't pass through.

He walked to the barrier and used his every observation skill, but nothing worked. He didn't know about this and had to find a plan on how to get past it. Fortunately, the Flesbold weren't near him so he could take his time. As he looked around for a clue, he noticed engravings on the wall around the barrier. They looked like the writing on magic circles, so Levi decided to pour his mana into them but stopped.

'What if it's a trap?'

Maybe it would cast magic on the Flesbold to attack him or something worse would try to chop his head off. But he had no other choice but to do it. As he poured his mana into the engravings, they produced a small grey glow and moved towards the barrier, but nothing happened. Levi kept pouring his mana until he ran out and had to drink another potion.

He kept doing this but nothing happened. As he was about to give up, he could see the barrier shake. The mana surrounding it fluctuated, and the particles at the surface of the barrier moved into certain places. Once the process finished, Levi could see a smiling face, creepily staring at him.

"Welcome."

The face whispered with a devilish smile.
