CHAPTER 22: Work As A Team[2]

After killing an orc, the team kept on running into orcs and the same thing happened. Harper and Jack would be beaten and Levi would only attack once the orc was close to the girl. Harper started to get annoyed at Levi and the girl as well as both of them attacked only after the two of them were down.

"Can't you both attack a bit earlier?"

The pink-haired girl lowered and Levi didn't even bother to answer.

"Hey. Don't ignore my question. Why are you waiting for Jack and me to fall down? Remember this is a team task and everybody gets the same share. You won't get any extra points for a kill."

Jack wanted to stop Harper from talking anymore.

'You fucking dumb ass. Shut your goddamn mouth if you don't want us dead.'

Levi stepped in front of Harper. Harper shivered a bit when he saw Levi calm and collected.

"How are the both of us meant to attack Harper, when you and Jack block our view. Your body blocks our best shot at target and my arrow isn't strong enough to pierce the orc's skin and her attacks aren't thin enough to attack the orc without you getting attacked as well."

Harper realised his mistake. He was about to apologise but Levi stopped him.

"No need to apologise. It was just a misunderstanding and what you said was for the team."

Jack, the girl and Harper were taken aback by how confident and understanding Levi was. The shy, weak and cowardly boy just vanished into the air and was replaced by a commander on a battlefield.

Levi didn't want to step up but at this pace, his team would be dead last and he didn't want the punishment.

"Can I suggest something?"

The three of them nodded and Levi started cooking...not literally.

"The main problem with our squad is that we have two tanks. The problem isn't you guys but your position. You guys are strong enough to kill the orcs but do not have the battle sense of a traditional damage dealer. My archer skills are also not the best."

He didn't hesitate to spill the flaws in the team and decided to demean his archer skills. This was necessary because a leader must not be soft when it comes to correcting mistakes and realising their own weakness.

Levi could kill the orc's one shot but it was mainly because of [Essence]. He continued explaining his plans.

"You guys do what you can do as a tank and just shield the attack. Let me and…..her deal with the orcs with our attack and if our attack misses or doesn't deal damage, you guys can move on your own."

Levi then activated his Hunter Eye and noticed three orcs alone 100 meters on their left.

"There are three orcs on our left, not together. Let's kill them one by one."

None of them asked how he knew cause it was a given for an archer to have good eyes.

They ran and once an orc was in their sight, Jack and Harper took the lead. They both hit their shield to agro the orc. The orc ran towards the two. Before the orc could reach them, the girl cast a magic spell and Levi got ready to shoot an arrow

"Wind blades."

Three blades of wind shot towards the orc. It managed to parry two of them but one hit its leg. Levi shot the arrow and it went flying right into the orc's head.

The arrow pierced its head and kept on flying until it hit a wall. The corpse disappeared and it dropped a mana core. The three of them looked at Levi.

"What did I mess up?"

None of them said anything back and went to kill the other orcs. They adapted the same strategy and managed to kill the remaining orcs. Levi would then use his Hunter Eyes and Search skills to find the orcs. Like this, they killed 15 orcs bringing their points to a whooping 75.

Harper was happy that his team did well

"Maybe we could kill the boss."

The girl and Jack nodded and waited for Levi's approval. All of them now thought of him as the captain of the team.

"At this level, we cannot kill the boss. We have improved a lot but let's not jump on the horse just yet. Just focus on killing the regular orcs."

The three of them understood his intentions but were a bit sad cause they wanted to get first place.

"There is always next time."

Levi said as he started searching for more orcs and the three followed his lead.

******

The class ended. First place went to Team B which had Flynn, Blake and Irene with them. Second place went to Eliza and Rose's team D. Gabriel was also part of the team. Finally, after one whole month, Team F wasn't in the last place. They were third with 100 points. Fiona and everyone were shocked seeing the results.

There were other instructors inside the forest acting as surveillance for the students and Fiona was reading their reports about Team F.

All of them praised their teamwork and coordination. While other teams had individual prowess, this team focused on their strengths and covered their weakness. The main highlight of the report was:

"The archer has good eyes and is calm under pressure."

"I haven't seen such intricate archer skills in a student after the Hydra's heir."

Fiona looked at Levi who was sitting down and looking at ants passing by.

"All of you did well. It was a tough match this time but the last team still has to get the punishment. Now all of you can head back to your dorms."

As soon as she said that Levi walked away. Harper and Gabriel wanted to call him but he was already far away. Irene looked at his figure disappearing. The world wasn't giving her a chance for her to thank him.

*******

Levi still headed to the academy despite his classes for today being over. He went to his dorm got changed to his uniform and headed to the management department of the academy. He reached the department and headed to a room in the building. The door to the room was open and he saw more than fifty people typing on a typewriter, passing documents to each other and shouting as well.

"Why had nobody created the report yet?"

"What about the finance of the newly constructed buildings?"

"You guys are slower than a snail."

A guy was in the middle of the room shouting at everybody. He was a tall man with a moustache, black hair and green eyes The bags under his eyes showed the sleep he didn't get and the stress he had to suffer. Levi knocked on the door and that guy everybody looked at him.

"This is not the cafeteria kid."

"Actually, I am here because of the job vacancy."

Levi saw the academy release a vacancy announcement in a newspaper and it was available for students as well. The job was in the management department responsible for managing the documents, data and finances of the whole academy. Levi had experience with this stuff back on earth and he needed some money as well. The pay was good with 100 Dale per hour which would suffice for him a lot. It was equivalent to 100 dollars back on earth.

The purple-eyed guy looked at his colleague on his side and whispered.

"Why is a kid here for the job? Didn't I specify to make the vacancy for experienced workers only?"

"But boss nobody applied for the job and we are in dire need of someone and many workers here are going to quit the job cause of how stressful it is."

The boss sighed and walked towards Levi.

" Take a seat."

Levi nodded and sat. He looked at the name tag on his boss's shirt.

'Dave Pyron.'

The boss sat next to him and started asking him questions.

"What's your name?"

"Levi."

"Do you have any sort of experience in this type of job?"

He had but not in this world so,

"No"

"Can you use a typewriter?"

"Yes."

"Can you make sure to work four hours a day every five days of the week?"

"Yes."

" Ok you'r hired. Go to that seat and get to work."

Levi didn't know how to respond. It was the quickest interview he ever had and within ten seconds landed the job and had to work. He wasn't given any sort of instruction on what he had to do He walked towards his seat and sat there. The guy next to him gave him a tired smile.

"Sorry kid. I hope you survive this."

Levi didn't say anything and looked at the papers on his table.

"You need to organise the finances and the cost of the cafeteria that was destroyed. If you don't know how to then get out."

The boss said behind him and sat next to Levi at his own desk.

'I can do this much for destroying the cafeteria.'

Levi looked at the reports and his inner data analyst started questioning how these people managed to even organise the date. They just blatantly wrote the reports without categorizing them into any sections. The tables were a mess….everything was a mess.

'And here I thought it was going to be an easy job.'

Levi started typing on his typewriter. It felt like typing on a mechanical keyboard. The typewriter also was very advanced. Since some of its functions worked on magic, the writer could do things that one could do back on earth. Except there was no monitor but a piece of paper.

Levi finished his job within ten minutes.

"Boss. I finished my work."

"you couldn't do such a simple task, get ou- wait! What did you say?"

Levi handed him the paper and repeated himself again.

"I finished the work."

The boss snatched the paper and was shocked.

'How did he manage to bundle such a large amount of data in such a short amount of time. Even a child could understand this report. It is so neat and clean without any errors.'

The boss snapped out from fanboying the paper and handed another paper to Levi.

"Get to the next one."

"Ok."

The same thing happened. The boss choked, and Levi rocked. Even the workers in the room who were working like zombies couldn't help but look at Levi. His efficiency, focus and his skills mesmerised everyone so much that he single-handedly managed to finish 60% of today's work.

The boss's hand shook every time he read one of his writing and reports.

'He must be a data analyst and managing prodigy.'

Levi wasn't. He was like everybody. The only difference was he could focus well and as a result of that, he would gain [Essence], and that would enhance his intuition and cognitive abilities and would work at their best. Though he didn't know he had [Essence] back on earth.

Levi finished his shift and worked. He handed in his last report. The boss stood up from his chair and patted Levi on his shoulder.

"Good job. Do you want your pay for today?"

The employees had never heard their boss praise someone. There was a higher chance of the world being destroyed than the boss appreciating someone.

Levi was low on money so he asked for his pay. The boss handed him 400 Dale.

"At what time can you come here?"

"I have classes up to 10 and will have club activities as well so can I come at around 1 pm?"

"That works with me."

Levi then bowed slightly and left the room. Dave looked at Levi's back and smiled.

'My instincts tell me that a boy is something special."
