Inside the Briefcase

SuiYin's expression changed a few times hearing the story.

"Wow, no wonder you dared to fight against Jeff. Even those gang members didn't make you flinch. But I never realized Aiyden is that strong.

So you think he is a professional boxer?"

Rafael nodded, then took out his phone and did a simple search on Aiyden's name.

"Aiyden's Epic Debut: Knockouts, Knee-Slappers, and the Ring King"

"Aiyden's Meteoric Rise: A New Legend in the Ring"

"Punchlines and Power Punches: Aiyden, A New Champion in the Making"

Every single article told that Aiyden was a once-in-a-millennium genius, a savant of boxing. He was undefeated; all his matches were won with a KO.

"Impressive, I would never have realized this if not for you. He doesn't look like someone famous."

Hearing her words reminded Rafael about Aurora. 'It's been a while since she contacted me, I wonder if something is up.'

They continued their small talk until they reached the library. Airine smiled as she locked eyes with SuiYin.

"Hi, SuiYin, I thought you wouldn't go to the library today."

"I didn't plan to, but this man pushed me to come here," SuiYin said with a chuckle as she pointed her finger at Rafael.

Airine turned her gaze, looking coldly at him. "Oh, it's you. I knew you were not a good person."

Rafael's lips twitched, but he felt it would just be a waste of time debating with her. He left both of them without saying a word, then picked up the briefcase.

SuiYin wanted to say something to ease Rafael and Airine, but looking at the huge briefcase changed her focus.

"What is inside?" SuiYin asked while walking toward Rafael.

"I don't know, I haven't opened it, but Mrs. Vivian said there is a credit card for our school expenses."

"Open it then. You know the code, right?"

"Yes, it's our student number."

SuiYin excitedly started inputting the code. But feeling a gaze from her back made her turn her head.

"Airine, just come here. Don't worry, you can see."

Airine hesitated for a moment, but she was also curious about what was inside.

It wasn't the first time she had seen this briefcase; she had also heard some rumors. But she had never seen it with her own eyes.

She began to walk slowly to SuiYin's side.

Feeling Rafael's gaze at her, Airine said, "What? Do you mind me being here?"

"I just don't get why you hate me so much."

"Your face just makes me feel annoyed."

SuiYin let out a chuckle when hearing this while Rafael's lips twitched. "For your information, I am considered handsome and have the best genes from both my parents."

Airine rolled her eyes at Rafael's shameless remark. She wanted to say more, but a clicking sound pulled both of their focuses.

SuiYin opened the briefcase. There were two parts: the lower one was filled with a laptop, and on top, there was a tablet, phone, and an envelope.

The three devices were high-end technology. They were custom-made with the Royal Valtara Academy logo.

SuiYin took the envelope and tore it open. Inside were paper documents with the card glued to them. The documents gave instructions on how to activate and use it.

"I always knew we would be provided everything, but not to this extent," Rafael commented. He hadn't opened him, but he didn't feel the need to do that now.

"Can we sell this, Rafael? I doubt we need all three," SuiYin asked.

"Nope, we cannot, although I think we can find a roundabout way. It says we cannot sell, but lending it out to family should be no problem. Even if it's broken, the academy will replace it."

SuiYin put a finger on her chin, then pulled the phone out. "Airine, take this then. I don't need it; the tablet and laptop are enough for me."

Her offer made Airine's eyes widen. "But SuiYin, this is yours. I know how hard you worked for the scholarship."

"In my hands, this will only collect dust. My phone already works well enough for me. Also, I don't need this card; you should use it."

This time, Rafael was the one surprised. He could understand the phone since he also didn't plan to change it. He was thinking of finding a way to sell it or offer it to his sister. But the card? There was no way he wouldn't use it. It was a free $1k every month. No one in their right mind would reject this. It's not like SuiYin was rich; if she had money, she wouldn't have been a full scholarship student.

Based on Rafael's experience, for the elite, they would not feel proud of getting paid for something. On the contrary, they would feel shameful.

"SuiYin, I cannot accept it. The phone is still alright, but this, no! Absolutely not."

SuiYin smiled at her rejection. She forcefully pulled her hand and put it on her palm. "Look, even if it's in my hand, I will not enjoy it. So it's better for you to use it. How about this: every time I need something, I will ask you to buy it for me."

"SuiYin…" Airine's eyes glistened with tears, her heart feeling warm. She hugged her tightly.

The card meant a lot to her.

'It seems both of them have known each other for a while now. Wonder what really happened.'

SuiYin said some more words to convince Airine, then excused herself as there was something she needed to do.

"Do you want me to escort you home? Bringing that kind of suitcase will attract people's attention," Rafael offered.

"Don't worry. I will call my mom and ask her to take me home." She then winked her eyes, "You should know by now she can protect me."

After saying that, she left the library.

Rafael frowned. He turned his gaze toward Airine, who was still looking at the card and phone she got from SuiYin.

"I know you hate me, but can you please be civil and tell me if SuiYin has some problem?"
