Living as Yllaria

Jane Adelline Hart's POV

'The two got married when Yllaria turned eighteen, and that's when the series of tragedy and betrayals started.'

"What happened next?" I tried hit my head on the table a few more times but my memories about the after their marriage were a blur. The ink was starting to mess up the paper so I had to put it down and lean on my chair.

Yes, I lived. Like those usual time travel and reincarnation plots, I escaped my death and now I'm reincarnated in the 5-year old body of Yllaria Madeleine Sedillon. In the original story, nothing significant happened at this time, but since Yllaria's different features were visible, the rumors around the mansion were starting.

Soon, I would be punished and abused by everyone in this mansion, and I have to find a way to stop that!

But how? Should I act kind and cheerful? Or should I be cold and intimidating?

While thinking about ways to avoid my suffering, I remembered what happened a week before. It was the time where I got reincarnated in this body.

- Flashback -

I groaned when I felt someone tugging my blanket off. I grabbed the blanket towards me, hearing a soft scream in the process. When I opened my eyes, I saw a woman in a maid's uniform glaring at me. I really hate it when someone interrupts my sleep, so I glared back at her, causing the latter to flinch. It took me a few seconds to realize my situation.

I quickly stood on the bed and I hear the maid gasp.

"I was supposed to be dead, right?" I whispered to myself and messed my hair. I felt my knees go weak so I knelt on the bed and started to bite my nails.

I died on the earthquake, but before that I flipped the page of the book and then a blinding light filled the place. After that, I lost my consciousness then I woke up here.

I looked at my hands and they looked so small. My messy hair was silvery-white and I just noticed that my room looks exactly like the rooms for a princess in the medieval times.

I gasped and my eyes widened with realization. I turned my head to the maid who looked so spook with my actions.

"Yllaria Madeleine Sedillon, that's... my name, right?" I asked her but she didn't answer. She looked at me weirdly so I raised my right eyebrow and looked at her coldly. This annoying person.

"Won't you answer me?" I asked her and she looked frightened with the tone of my voice. She avoided my eyes and gave me a bow.

"I'm sorry, my lady. To answer your question, yes, you are Princess Yllaria Madeleine Sedillon." Her tone sounded so nervous so I rolled my eyes.

"Okay, now get out." I commanded, causing her to stand straight and look at me with wide eyes. I had to bite my tongue to avoid laughing because she looked like an owl.

Oh no, owls are cute, she isn't.

"I'm sorry for insulting you, owls." I whispered and looked at the maid again. Her face still looked so annoying that I can't help but roll my eyes.

"Are you deaf?" I asked her and that's the time where she snapped back to reality. Realizing her mistake, she bowed to me and headed outside.

When I was left all alone, I scanned the room and I immediately noticed how plain it was. I rolled my eyes with the discrimination of those damned nobles.

"It's not as if Yllaria wanted to be adopted. The duke and duchess should have just suffered for the death of their real daughter or they could just make another one. Are they dumb?" I muttered to myself as I continued to walk around the room.

The bed was big, but it really didn't give off a 'noble' vibe. The bed looked plain, no adornments or design. The room only consisted of a closet, a study table, and a vanity table with a few accessories. If there's something that I love in this room, that would be the bookshelf with a fair amount of books.

I sighed with the appearance of the room. I tried to open the closet but what awaited me were dresses that were fit for commoners or for the average-people. I'm not saying that I hate it, but this kind of discrimination was too much. Not even a proper dress for a party or social gatherings. When I checked the vanity table, I was astounded with the appearance of Yllaria.

I know that she's beautiful, but seeing it in person was different.

Long, white hair that smoothly swayed whenever I move. It had natural curls at the end that looked so perfect with my face. My small face paired with my gold orbs were so beautiful to see. Tall nose and heart-shaped lips, and my glowing, fair skin made me look like a fairy, not a human. Damn, words were nowhere near enough to give justice to this beauty. No wonder the third prince loved her.

I softly pinched my cheeks as I continued to scan the vanity table. As expected, only small jewels were here. The chains of the necklaces were even fake, since they were already filled with rust.

"Jeez. How can I survive here?" I whispered to myself and went to the study table. There were a few papers and ink. A paper was scribbled with a few characters so I tried reading it.

'Yllaria'

"Wow, what a nice handwriting." I said. It looked like a calligraphy and it's really pleasing to the eyes. I scanned the table but there was nothing left so I looked at the bookshelf beside the table. Upon seeing the books, I can't help but smile.

"I really saved you for last, my dear books." I extended my arm to get one but before I could feel it, the door opened and it revealed another woman in a maid's uniform. Behind her was the maid that interrupted my sleep moments ago, she was smiling evilly at me and I immediately had a bad feeling about this.

"Why are you still not dressed up, lady Yllaria?" She asked in a stern voice. This maid is a lot older and I guess she's the head maid. She quickly walked towards me and grabbed my left arm tightly. She walked towards the door while grabbing me harshly with her. I'm used to pain but I don't think this is the appropriate way to treat your master. I stopped walking and forcefully pulled my arm from her grasp. The older woman faced me and gave me a glare. I raised my left eyebrow and glared at back at her. I can easily determine that this maid would be someone that would bully me in the future.

"Is this how you treat the lady of this house?" I asked her sharply. Unlike the other maid, this older woman didn't back down from my glare. Instead, she gave me a smirk that's full of pride. The hell?

"Don't talk too proud, young miss. You're just a trash that the house adopted. A fake." She said confidently. I scoffed with her words. I took a step closer to her, making sure my face was cold and stern.

"Who said I am not a lady of this house? Are you trying to disrespect the Sedillon name?" I asked her, and that's the time where I saw her flinch. Her confidence slowly started to crumble, giving me a sense of satisfaction. Let's step up the game, shall we?

"Why aren't you talking? Did you lose your voice?" I stepped closer and tiptoed to reach her chin and drag it down. "Or do you want me to cut your tongue so you can't talk shits anymore?" Her eyes widened and escaped my grasp. She knelt on the ground and held my hand.

"F-Forgive me, lady." She said, nervous lacing her voice. It was now my turn to smirk.

"Don't touch me." She released my hand and placed her hands on the floor. "Do you think I'll easily forgive you? I can easily ask father to execute you for saying those words. Don't you think it's more fun?" She raised her head, and I almost laughed seeing her eyes full of tears. I showed her my sweetest smile and I finally heard her sob.

"I-I'm s-sorry, m-my lady. P-please f-forgive me." She pleaded. I noticed that the other maid was staring at us with shock and when she noticed my stare, she immediately bowed at me. I looked at the older maid who was kneeling in front of me and knelt in front of her.

"Okay. I forgive you." Her face immediately brightened but I continued to speak. "But don't you dare disrespect me again, understand?" She immediately nodded. I looked at the other maid and she also nodded at me, fear evident in her face.

"Now, why were you here again?" I asked them and the older maid immediately composed herself before answering me.

"It's time for your bath, my lady." She didn't dare to meet my eyes and I smiled with that.

"I understand. Lead the way." We went to the room next to mine and it was quite a luxurious bathroom.

"I'll be able to manage myself. You can wait outside." They looked hesitant but still followed me. "Ah, wait." They stopped in their tracks and looked at me. "What are your names?"

"I'm Amy and this is Ira, my lady." The older woman, Amy, answered. "I see. Amy and Ira, make sure that no one would dare talk about bad things about me or the Sedillon name, okay? If I hear one unpleasant thing about it, you already know what will happen to you, right?" They immediately said 'yes' and went out. I filled the tub with water and placed some fragrance before dipping in.

"Ah, how should I live here?" Was my question before relaxing my head and giving in to my exhaustion.

- End of flashback -

"Oh my gosh, wait..." I sighed out of my realization. "Damn, I already resolved the issue about the rumors a week ago! How dumb of you, Jane!" I muttered to myself. I tapped the pen on my table as I thought of my next plans and steps.

Next problem, that would be my adoptive parents' abusing.

I spent the whole week inside my room, trying to write the memories I have about the story of Yllaria. I only managed to write the start until their marriage, and I can still remember the ending where Yllaria died. I also managed to go outside a few times and I already discovered the way to the garden. The library was really big and it's just a few meters away from my room. I started reading the books in my room and I planned to go to the library this week since I already finished them.

In that whole week, I never met or was called out by my parents.

I heard a knock in my door and the servants, Ira and Amy, entered.

"What is it?" I asked them. They gave me a small bow before answering.

"The duke and duchess are requesting your presence, my lady." My mouth gaped with what she said.

Speak of the devil and the devil shall come, huh?

"Help me get ready, you two." I ordered them and we acted fast.

Now, time to live as Yllaria Madeleine Sedillon. I swear on this new life that I, the protagonist, won't die!
