“What’s wrong?”
“Shelby’s an ass.”
Nothing new. These two fought about everything. “No, he’s not, Peter.”
The kid just rolled his eyes. “He is. You just don’t see it.”
“Are you just here to complain about him or is there really something going on?”
Peter glanced at Luka, raising an eyebrow. “You feeling okay? You look…sweaty.”
Luka raked his hand through his hair and glanced at Jacob before he answered. “I wasn’t feeling too well, but I’m okay now.”
Peter’s smirk told him he knew exactly why he was sweaty. “Yeah, whatever.”
“Peter?”
“Shelby is an ass!”
“You’ve said that.”
The teen glanced over his shoulder to make sure they were alone before he stared Jacob straight in the eyes, his face completely serious. “He told me I was ‘cute,’” he whispered conspiratorially.
Luka choked a little on his laughter and Peter bit his lip.
“That’s a compliment, Peter,” Jacob explained.
