Miranda breathed a sigh of relief as the orb's light once again illuminated the cavern. "That took a while." She muttered as she took a deep breath. She hadn't even noticed that she had tried to hold her breath through the stretch of seemingly endless dark.
"Is this what Aether meant?" Fen asked, his eyes were still wide open, and his hand was resting on the wall of the courtyard they had just entered.
Miranda shot Fen a quick glance before nodding. "These will become more and more frequent until once day, the light won't shine ever again." She pressed her hand on her chest. She could feel her racing heart. Such darkness was frightening.
"I see," The young man muttered. His shoulders dropped. His previous enthusiasm when she told him she could show him a place to train had vanished, the dark had sucked it out and consumed it, it seemed. Miranda forced a smile and made a gesture at the large, spacious courtyard.
