Tunnels
Mason and the pirates that were left used the low glowing branches to look around them. At first, it appeared they were inside another cavern, but they quickly realized it was just the tunnel widening before dipping down into the mountain. With the ground still shaking from the dragons fighting, they all decided to move down farther into the tunnels for the sake of safety. No one knew how thick the ground was above them, and they didn't want to risk it.
Holding the burning branch up high, the pirate Jess led them. The drop was steep, and the tunnel was narrow. The men had to reach out on either side of them and brace themselves against the stone walls to keep from falling. The air was cool and damp, smelling of earth and the faint smoke from their light.
