The Mountain

      Mason grabbed Ilona's hand and jerked her after him down the side of the grassy hill towards a patch of bushes.  Although the bushes weren't very thick and were full of thorns, the pair ducked behind them to keep themselves out of sight.  They were both breathing hard, and Mason scrambled quickly to peer back towards the mountain.

      Unlike a typical mountain, this one didn't come to a peak.  Ilona and Mason hadn't noticed it before, but this formation came to a flat top as if the peak had been smashed down.  Their hearts beat hard as they looked up towards that flat now and saw what had caught Ilona's attention, what they had both been horrified to see.
