Emergency Quest

Author's Note: Yesterday I was busy and I didn't have time to post so here's another chapter for your guys.

(Oliver's POV)

I was walking towards the door when I saw the man with the helmet nod.

'Is he nodding to me?' I thought confused.

[Host should use his perception.]

'Hmm ok.' I answered before stopping at the door and spreading out my perception.

Although it was faint I felt a presence behind the door.

'This doesn't make sense why would someone be right there?'

My question was answered as the system gave me my first emergency quest.

Details: (Host is being targeted by a secret organization for some unknown reason.)

Option: 1 Kill all the hostiles and leave no witnesses. <0/300>

Option: 2 Survive for 15 minutes without getting captured.

[Failure]

- The Host will be Captured for 10 years until his death.

- The Host's Sister will be Captured for 10 years until her death.

I looked at the quest weirdly because I thought it was a joke, but when I saw the cannons on the AVX12s light up I knew it was real.

I heard the man yell something, but I didn't listen as I could only focus on the system.

'System what is this!?' I asked, but my question was met with silence.

Not knowing what to do I stayed frozen in place.

Although the rewards were delicious my eyes never left what would happen if I failed. My sister meant more to me than anything and I didn't want her to be captured for 10 years and then die.

'I can't let anything happen to my sister.'

That was my last thought before giving my sister a message and pushing her away from the door before dashing through it.

I stopped right outside the door before using my enhanced speed ability.

I ended up right next to the man who was waiting behind the wall.

Turning to my right I watched in slow motion as the pistol came toward my head.

I dodge by moving my head back while staring at the gun.

It was silver in color with light blue engravings.

'It's weird how something so small can easily take a life.' I thought to myself before looking at the man.

His helmet was on so I couldn't see his eyes, but I could feel his confusion, surprise, and fear.

'How can I feel his emotions? Is it because of my death?' I put that thought to the side and went into action.

I grabbed onto his wrist before twisting it and taking the pistol away from him. I held onto his arm while thinking about what to do next.

'I don't know who these guys are, but seeing how they are trying to kill me and capture my sister I have no choice but the kill them.' I thought before turning the pistol on him and pulling the trigger twice.

'No, that's not true even if I didn't have the quest I would still kill him why is that though.'

I thought watching the man's body fall.

'Hmm, why do I feel nothing after killing him it's like I stepped on an ant. The system was right I don't have problems with killing.'

'System turn off all small notifications for now.' I said as the ringing sounds might distract me from the fight.

"Ellie run they're not real enforcers!" I shouted as I saw three beams of blue light come towards me.

I thought I would be scared at this moment.

I mean I could die again, but for some reason, I only felt excitement.

The excitement of danger.

I felt my blood pumping, and instead of going the safe way of using my speed to dodge I felt the need to try out my new abilities

'Add 1 point to enhanced speed.'

I watched how everything in my vision got a little bit slower.

'Wow, this shit's still gonna be close.' I thought before imagining a thin needle.

The beams were 5 feet away from my face once I felt the needle finish its creation process. As if it was an instinct I simultaneously activated my other abilities.

[Strength Enhancement]

I flicked my wrist throwing the needle 2 meters away instantly and teleported to it.

"Ha..ha…ha."

'System why am feeling this way.'

I panted as that was the second time it felt like death came close to me, but there was a smile on my face.

'That was close. Still, it was probably one of the best moments of my life.'

The adenine, the danger, the power it all felt intoxicating.

[That's a question for the Host to answer.]

[ The System suggests Host gets back into the fight and saves his ESP.]

'Not the answer I wanted, but ok.' I thought focusing back on the environment.

[Enchanced speed & Enhanced strength have been deactivated.]

[Host has 13/30 ESP left.]

I looked to my left to see a crater with a 1-meter radius in my house.

I watched as the house I lived in for years started to fall apart in horror.

My excitement was quickly washed away by fear.

[The Host's sibling is in good condition. She has another Ability that will let her escape]

[System suggests Host puts his full attention on the enemies. Although Host has superb instincts he is still an amateur fighter. The only way for Host to survive is by full concentration, spreading out his perception, and relying on his instincts to fight.]

I didn't trust the system at first, but when I saw Ellie appear on the roof of a house in the corner of my vision I let out a breath of relief.

With that out of my mind, I took the system's advice and started to spread out my perception while focusing on my surroundings.

There were 5 AVX12s surrounding me.

Three in front of me and the other two on my left and right.

They were each at least 15 meters away from me.

My conversation with the system happened in my head for less than a second so I had enough time to use their surprise to my advantage.

I looked around to find any ways to escape while leading most of the men away from Ellie and found an opening on my right, however, I would have to use the buildings and alleys to dodge the cannons.

Once I finished analyzing everything I saw the man with the speaker regain his composure. Even though I couldn't see his face I could tell that he was pissed that the shot missed.

Taking the opportunity to piss him off even more I sent him a wink while smirking after that I started sprinting to my right as fast as I could without using enchantment.

"FUCK!! SOMEONE CATCH THAT BASTARD! HIS POWERS WERE IDENTIFIED AS TELEPORTATION AND A SPEED ABILITY."

'Well he isn't wrong, but he isn't right.' I thought while barely dodging the bullets behind me.

I couldn't help myself from laughing when I heard the man scream at the gunmen for having such terrible aim.

All was fun and games until I felt a strong sense of danger.

They fired the cannons at me again, but this time from all sides. I quickly activated enhanced speed to give me more time to dodge.

[Enchanced Speed]

As everything in my vision slowed down I saw that on my right was a 4 story building, probably one of the tallest in the area.

The door was closed and I didn't want to waste any time as the blue energy beams were close to me, so I used brute strength.

[Enhance Strength]

[WARNING ESP LEVELS GETTING LOW]

'Well then give me ESP and stop complaining.' I thought before kicking off with all my strength shooting through the metal door.

Before I could celebrate my amazing dodge the shockwave from the attacks hit me.

'End all enhancements.' I thought quickly in the air trying to save any ESP I could.

[Enchanced speed & Enhanced strength have been deactivated.]

[Host has 8/30 ESP left.]

"Fuck." I cursed as every part of my body hurt from being sent into a wall, but I quickly got up.

There was a big hole where the door was supposed to be and I could see the blue-uniformed men with weapons coming toward me.

There was no way I was going to let a little pain stop me from escaping so a looked around for a place to escape.

Just as I found the stairs I felt an alarming sense of danger on my left leg.

Trusting my instincts I quickly moved to the right only to be a second too late.

"Agh!!! Fucking hell. They got snipers." I screamed as I felt a burning pain in the back of my left leg.

Knowing that if I stood still for even a second longer I could be caught I limped towards the stairs. Either they were slow or I was faster than them, but I made it to the staircase before they entered the building.

There were no windows here so I didn't have to worry about snipers and could finally get a second to think.

'Perception is an amazing attribute I can feel when the bullets are near me. That said those cannons and snipers are a problem.' I just reached the second floor when I heard the sound of multiple footsteps.

'System pull up my Data, Skills & Abilities and my points for them.'
