A Familiar Figure

Isla dressed up, ready to start her day. She was breathing in relief when the person she hoped not to see was not there.

Isla went to the well to fetch water. She was humming a melody beautifully. Her concentration was on what she was doing as she paid no heed to her surroundings.

"I see you know how to sing," Isla dropped the bucket in shock.

"I hope I didn't distract you" The voice resounded again.

Isla turned back with wide eyes, she looked at the person with confusion written on face.

Isla never expected to still see the strange man around, especially not at the back of her house.

"You, what are you doing here?" Isla asked. He was very handsome and his posture was elegant.

The stranger crossed his hands at the back, he narrowed his eyes when he heard her question.

"I live here now," He replied simply.

"What? Who permitted that?"

"Your papa did," He replied.

Isla was more than confused. Her papa permitted this man to live with the? But why would he do that? No, she must speak with him.

"He is currently in his office," the man said. Isla looked at him a bit skeptical. "I saw him going there," he finished.

"You're Devon right?" She asked to confirm.

"Yes I am and you must be Isla" He spoke.

"Yes I am Isla", she said with a high chin.

Devon just nodded to that. He said no more. He looked to his left with furrowed brows.

Isla noticed, she instinctively followed his gaze. She frowned as well.

A man was walking to a building, the figure was very familiar to Isla.

She left the handsome stranger and her intentions of getting water. She hurried inside.

Isla rushed inside the building, she headed to her father's office.

She had an odd feeling like someone was stalking her. She looked around repeatedly, her feet moving even faster. Isla kept looking back while walking, she bumped into something hard, she held her head in pain.

"Isla?" A voice called.

Isla looked up to see a familiar face staring at her with concern.

Isla saw a man with long inked hair and a masculine face, his straight nose with his pale skin and deep blue eyes.

Isla knew too well who those eyes belonged to. "Uncle," Isla said.

"Isla dear," her uncle called. He went closer to her.

"Uncle," she exclaimed with joy, she tiptoed and hugged him.

Her uncle hugged her back affectionately.

"It's been awhile, I started to believe you didn't care about me," Isla whined, she always acted spoiled whenever she was with him.

"Oh you know that can never be the truth. I care about you dear" He spoke and stroked her hair.

"So why didn't you come back all this while?" Isla asked, she knew why he took long to arrive but she wanted to whine more. She missed her uncle so much.

"I am sorry I took so long to return but I'm here now dear" He smiled.

"Are you going to meet Papa as well?"

"Yes, do you want to speak with him?" He asked her.

"Yes but you can go first"

"No I am sure it's important, follow me" Isla wanted to protest, however he pulled her with him into her father's office.

"Oliver," he father called.

"Pappa," Oliver smiled.

"Oh Oliver it's good to have you back," her father stood up and tapped his shoulders.

"Thank you Pappa," He said with a warm heart.

"What happened during your travels?" She sat down on the chair beside her uncle and her father sat behind his table.

A frown settled on her uncle's face, his eyes were distant as he recalled his experience during the travels.
