Chapter 62

The next day was a Wednesday. After a long tiring day of work, everyone returned to Dining Hall restaurant where they all had their dinner.

 It was always the case even back when they lived in London. Most of the times they'd eat at the restaurant and return home to sleep after closing hours.

 The children even had a bedroom in the building in case they fell asleep before they closed up.

 The seven of them were gathered around the rectangular dining table. All other workers had left for their homes leaving the small family behind.

 The old Song Wei had prepared stir fried tofu laced with flavorful spices and sauces served with fried rice among other side dishes.

 " Big sister Elly, what happened at the Lis, did they finally allow you to work in peace? "

 Song Ming asked Ellen whose face was as calm as always.

 Zhou Ning's face froze when she heard his question. She stiffened when she remembered them mentioning that Ellen was working in the Li mansion. She tightly clenched her chopsticks and lowered her gaze with a complicated expression.

 Everyone's eyes shifted to Ellen as she slowly ate without minding their various gazes. She lifted her eyes after swallowing her food and casually wiped her mouth with a soft napkin.

 " Why should I bother myself with those bunch of fools? "

 Her face was still void of any emotion.

 She had gone to the Li mansion and contrary to what she was supposed to do, she had spent all the time in the garden playing phone games.

 The old hag forbade her from laying her hands on her and only received assistance from her granddaughter in-law who kept giving Ellen hostile gazes as if she had stolen from her.

 The mood in the family was weird and tensed.

 Ellen emotionlessly shrugged. She wasn't one to care about things that did not concern her in the least.

 Almost all the members of the Li family were present when she entered the mansion. They all wanted to set their eyes on the highly valued nurse and understand why Bai Chun was so adamant on her. Even the servants were peeking from the slightly opened doors.

 Ellen rolled their eyes noticing their weird behaviors. She guessed that something must have happened after Mrs Li came to meet her at the restaurant.

 When a short girl who even looked like she was underaged was led in by the butler, their jaws dropped in astonishment.

 Their eyes comically fell from her head to toes.

 She wore very tight skinny jeans with both knees ripped off, a large baggy grey t-shirt with a huge ' BONJOUR ' written on the front and black sneakers.

 Her long black hair that was braided into cornrows was partly covered in a black cap with it's visor turned to the back. She had a blue lollipop on her mouth and her hands were expressionlessly playing with the strand of the sling bag hanged across her chest.

 They all widened their eyes at her, stupefied.

 She looked more of a street gangster than a medical nurse!!

 Their gazes swept past Bai Chun wondering whether she had finally lost it.

 She had mentioned that the nurse was recommended by Dr Hua Chen. They started to suspect that his old age was starting to affect his intelligence.

 Ellen was in the least concerned with their drama.

 She was nonetheless able to observe the old woman from a far. Her frowns, her winces and every other expression on her face and body.

 She frowned in confusion wondering whether those doctors of theirs were asleep during her treatment and check ups.

 Back to present, the conversation shifted from Ellen's work to Zhou Ning complaining about how she was overworked on her fast day of work in the station, how she ran all over the entire capital chasing after a pick pocketer, to Sherry lamenting why her uncle handsome never turned up even after giving him her favorite doll the previous day.

 " When are you planning to take them to school? Have you found the right one yet? "

 Zhou Ning looked at Ellen while tossing a piece of braised pork into her mouth.

 " There's no hurry. "

 They had just arrived in the country. Ellen planned to let the children rest first and get adapted to the country before deciding on which school to take them.

 Liam was already in the first grade while Sherry was still in the kindergarten.

 " I want to go to Tiantian's school, he said that it's the best school in the whole country. "

 Sherry suddenly exclaimed with a bright face. She jumped in a sudden kneeling on her chair. If not for Song Ming's quick reflexes, she would have knocked her entire bowl of soup and poured it all over herself when she leapt on the chair with her feet.

 Liam's eyes also lit up at her words. He quietly looked at Ellen with an expectant gaze.

 " Who is that? " Ellen blankly glanced at the children.

 " Tiantian is uncle handsome's nephew... "

 Sherry went ahead to sing how handsome and nice the uncle was, rendering them speechless.

 How on freaking earth was she just a 4 year old kid?
