" My mother was quite scared when she learned of the risks and she refused treatment before the doctors could establish where the problem was.

 She said she'd rather live without treatment even if she lasted for half an year than risk dying on the operation table. She wanted to spend some time with her family and maybe get a chance to see her great grandchild before she dies. "

 Her lips trembled as she took out some tissues to wipe the hot tears that filled her eyes. Her voice quivered and her face had turned red due to crying.

 " We believe that there's still something that can be done to save her but she's adamant in not seeking any treatment.

 She's now even afraid when she sees a doctor in the house.

 When I heard that Director Hua had returned, I immediately consulted him because he has been close to our family for long and he's a great doctor. "

 She looked at Ellen's spotless face with her slightly red eyes.

 " He told me he'd introduce me to you so that we can hear your opinion on this."

 Ellen's eyes were lowered and she was playing with the handle of her white cup. She looked as if she wasn't paying any attention to her words.

 Mrs Li swallowed and shot her a pleading look. At this point, the family was desperate. They would gladly consider every glemer of hope that came their way.

 Ellen was silent for a while then looked up. " What are her symptoms? " She asked the middle aged woman. Mrs Li's eyes lit up. Her hope had been crushed when Ellen was silent. Her eyes had dimmed when she guessed that Ellen also found it a hopeless case.

 " She has been having a series of headaches and sometimes difficulty in breathing. Her blood pressure also rises oftenly and she most of the times complains about dizziness and being nauseous. "

 " She eats so little because she'd throw up whatever that gets into her stomach. She has been surviving on some painkillers and some medicine prescribed by the doctors to ease her pain and discomfort. "

 " She's currently on a wheelchair. Her limbs started losing strength and with time due to the lack of immediate treatment, her legs are gradually losing sensation." Mrs Li finished with a solemn voice. She seemed to have a good and loving relationship with her mother-in-law.

 " How long has this been happening since it started? " Ellen asked after listening.

 " It should be about 2 months. "

 Ellen slowly nodded and straightened up her body. Her indifferent and carefree expression was replaced by a professional look. Mrs Li was a bit surprised. Previously she seemed like she was passing time listening to a boring talk.

 Ellen looked at her with a serious expression. " Mrs Li, I'm not promising you anything." She paused and glanced at the woman whose face had turned sheet white.
