(This story won’t be continued) A world just like ours has been dealing with portals for around a century now. For the first time since these portals have been appearing they start to change. Structures that shouldn't be there pop-up. Labyrinths have strange texts written in them. One of the strangest things however is someone who wasn't supposed to ever get stronger getting stronger. Azure Nguyen who's an F- ranked delver has gained a special ability called "Copycat". He now has the navigate how the strange happenings in portals affect him while trying to use an ability that no one has ever heard of before. Will Azure survive the changes or will the pressure crush him instead.

The labyrinth - Part 5

As I start walking back inside the labyrinth I can't help but wonder. Will that kid actually wait there or will he go back through the portal? I assume he is going to stay there but that doesn't mean that the supervisor won't tell him to go through the portal. I assume the supervisor won't force the kid to go all alone but the others probably send some other people out too by now. Those people are probably adults so they could make sure that they are all okay. But honestly, I think the kid would like to be with his brother as he gets out or at least with his friends. Not some random stranger who he doesn't know or trust. But on the other hand, I would get why the kid would want to get out of there as soon as he could. I just hope that I will be able to find his big brother soon since that would probably be the best thing for the kid.

There are certain that civilians have after they get out of a portal. This is why I think it is best that Vincent would leave with his brother since the list is not extensive but not fun either. The first that will have to be done is to go to the hospital. Which might sound strange if you think about lower-ranking portals. For higher-ranking ones, it is obvious since people would've gotten physically hurt. But lower-ranking portals and not going outside immediately can cause people to not drink or eat for several days. Which is not great since if the portal has been open for a bit you will have to drag people and those people will need fluids. And that causes for another problem, delvers aren't told how long the portals have been opened. At least for the delves I do which are lower-ranking ones. Which makes it harder to predict what we are going to find inside. But that's why I think it is better for Vincent to have someone he knows with him at least since going to the hospital is not fun for anyone I think.

The way back is not too far yet but I can't say that I am there immediately either. But I am starting to remember something while I am walking alone. The reason why I tend to avoid portals with labyrinths or mazes inside them. It isn't because they are all that difficult but because they can be extremely boring. You have to do the same thing over and over and over again. Also, you have what I can call pests flying or walking around. They are mostly harmless and just annoying as can be. And also part of the reason why even for F ranked portals civilians have to get checked up on. Because there are allergic reactions and all that can happen. But the pest can technically be classified as monsters yet they aren't monsters at the same time. Some of those things could have come right out of a fantasy book. But those monsters are extremely harmless, to say the least. Just to name a few:

You have these flying insects. The best way I can describe them are some sort of mosquitos. Like they fly quickly and are immediately down when you swat at them. They also bite and their bites are always a bit different. Sometimes your skin just itches like a regular old bite but honestly, that is rare. Most of the time you like this slight burning sensation on the place you got the bite. And that feeling stays for like two maybe three seconds and then the itchy feeling starts to emerge. From what I heard you don't want to have the ones that bite and give an earth effect. Since those wounds tend to get infected immediately. Personally, I dislike the ones with ice the most since the cold usually is felt throughout your entire body which is not fun.

Something I doubt I will see in here but I have seen before are flying books. They are nearly completely harmless, but I say nearly with a reason. Because newbies have a tendency to just smack out of the air. Which causes their defence mechanism to activate. And that playing dead and thus falling to the ground. And from what I can say a book of around a thousand pages can knock you out when it gets dropped on your head. Luckily most ones aren't that big which is less harmful when they just drop, but still not fun.

But honestly, I haven't seen a whole lot of monsters in F ranked portals. What I however do notice a lot are traps scattered around. No traps inside F ranked portals are meant to kill people more like to incapacitate intruders. Which I guess delvers technically are inside these places. But the thing is there aren't any beings here to capture us. Which makes places like these very strange. Like who designed this place, who made something like this. But let's just I can say that the traps do work to hurt people. Considering I have been hit by quite a few in the past. But to be honest, those give me the least bad scars if you ask me. For some reason, they get infected less often which makes sure that they heal better. I however did get like this panel smacks out once. Which knocked me out and caused me a lot of trouble breathing for a week. Which caused me not to be able to work properly for a week. Eleanor still likes to joke about it sometimes.

As I keep on walking I realise I wasn't actually keeping time well. Like I have a vague idea about which time I left but I can't say it with complete certainty. I also have clue how long it actually takes to get back to where I left the rope. It doesn't take too long yet at the same time I wouldn't say it was a five-minute walk either. So I guess it should take between five to ten minutes. but all I do know is that I should start my boring routine now. Since I have finally arrived in that hallway again. I walk back inside since I do need my rope again to safely traverse through the labyrinth. As I walk through I do notice one thing that I haven't really seen in these stone mazes. And that seems to be this type of moss growing on the walls but I ignore it for now since I never heard of or seen it before. But I start up my routine finally. Which is a simple thing to do since it is like the same thing over and over and over again, which I personally find boring. But I rather have boring and safe than dangerous and exciting. But I go inside a hallway which is not a complete dead end and immediately turns into one pretty soon after the turn. I write a cross on the end off so I can at least see it is finished. I also write the arrow in the direction where the exit is. Which might seem useless but I just do it for a just-in-case moment.

I am also doing it in case they come to check to see if you did anything to help people find the way out without you even being there. Because I have heard stories about that before but never actually had that happen to me before. But now that I think of this entire delve has been going odd already. Like six people already separated from the group which is more than bad news if you ask me. But if I were to encounter any of them please let me encounter the newbies. Because I feel that they would be more open to listening than the ones already having done delves. Because there might just be a chance that they won't listen to me because they either saw me get hurt before or heard a story of me getting hurt. Which is not something that instals confidence in people.

As I continue my long walk and continue the routine in the labyrinth I can't help but be bored. This all feels like such a tedious task, maybe I should've waited another day or two for when more portals were opening up again. I might've just been able to go to one where I didn't know anyone nor would it have been this tedious. I am probably walking these hallways for around thirty minutes already. And there is one thing that I notice concerns me more than a bit. Someone seems to have found another ring, which not great, since that means less. I think, there might actually be enough since we need to find those other rings to close the portal. But honestly that seems like a job to do after the entire labyrinth is searched and cleared out. Is it me or does that seem like common sense. Like at this point I am not even sure if should note it somewhere when I find one of the rings, or if I should just walk away. But of course the rings might be harder to find since there are only two left now. I hope they are harder to find now since that would more time to get people out. I hope things are balanced at least things could be like that, it would help us at least.

Find and collect: The five rings of light

3/5 rings found

There is something I try to do inside these labyrinths. And it is something for some reason people don't really keep track of. And that is if you write something down. Why would I write something on the wall it is to make the main arrows clearer by writing "way out" on them. But it is the way I write that people tend to forget from what I have seen. That they try to write in like regular handwriting with charcoal or chalk. Which is not only hard to do but also barely legible. They forget that writing in print letters is the clearest for everyone. Even pretty young kids will be able to make out what it says. But I finally decided to add something to my routine. Something I am actually not even sure how useful it is because I have never seen it before. It is that blue moss, I rather waste my energy by adding that to my routine and collecting it. Then later finding out it was super useful and not having collected any. I would also be able to maybe get some money from it since getting a bit more money can't hurt.

Again a lot of time passes as I do the same thing over and over again, kind of wishing I didn't do this. Wishing I just decided to like study and train today. But for some reason, I thought this was a way better way to train than it would've been to actually train. Like I haven't even been able to even attempt to use Emily's ability which I have copied and am ready for use. It isn't that I wish to get hurt or something and I can't really show anyone else that I have an ability like this. Nor can I actually show them that I can copy other people's abilities. Since that would raise more questions, to which I don't have the answers too. I am also curious about that weird blue pattern I saw on my hand. I couldn't really look at it because it was a blink-and-you-miss-it type of deal. I wonder if it was actually a trick of the eye or if I was just too tired or something.

My mind continues to drift off while I start thinking about everything I could've done instead of what I actually did. And if I didn't do all the mindless tasks inside I might actually have missed someone standing further in the hallway I am in. I don't recognise her and she seems to be wearing more casual so is she a civilian? I instinctively walk closer to like tell her the way out as I shout out. "Miss, are you okay? You have to go this way if you want to get outside the labyrinth." I also show a gesture that shows her what she has to follow to get out. But as I am approaching her I notice she seems rather calm for a normal civilian. Please don't tell me she is a delver with experience, because I already feel that won't turn out well. But of course, things were going too easy right now as she start to walk further in the labyrinth.
