The innocent assault on Ezra (Edited chapter)

"What do you want to cook for dinner?" Scarlett asked Elaine just as they entered the mall.

"Mmm… I was thinking of pot roast beef and stew, something soothing and nutritious for Ezra in his fever." She replied entering the grocery and food supply section.

Scarlett glanced at Layla for a moment and found her looking straight at her. "Is there anything you want to talk about?"

She shook her head immediately, feeling embarrassed at getting questioned like that. "It's… it's actually the first time we have been out together."

Layla frowned, and she noticed her cheeks getting slightly tinted. "Umm, yeah. I guess so."

Scarlett shook her head and waved her hands nervously at Layla, "wait… that came out in the wrong way. What I meant is that I'm not that experienced in having a bodyguard and you being here watching my back is… I don't know how to say it." She chuckled softly, "it feels unreal somehow."
