chapter 24 : Friendly Reminder

Despite their best efforts, the hacking attempt persisted throughout the day and into the night. The team worked tirelessly, but they were unable to pinpoint the source of the breach.

They tried their best to restore their information, because as an intelligence company, the leakage of information endangered many agents' lives and compromised their operations. The sophisticated nature of the attack suggested a highly skilled adversary, one who was always a step ahead.

By midnight, YN was exhausted. The team had managed to prevent any immediate data loss, but the threat was far from over. She decided to call it a night and headed to the parking garage under the CIA building.

As she walked to her car, she dialed V's number, but he wasn't picking up. YN thought, 'Maybe he's busy.' She reached her car and held the door handle, ready to open it. Suddenly, someone closed the door and stood in front of her, leaning casually against the car.

YN looked up, her breath catching in her throat. It was Jungkook, his dark eyes piercing through the dimly lit garage.

"Miss me?" he asked, a smirk playing on his lips.

She tried to steady her racing heart. "You?"

He leaned closer, his voice low and menacing. "Just a friendly reminder, YN. This is only the beginning. You can't escape your past."

YN squared her shoulders, meeting his gaze with unwavering determination. "We'll see about that. And don't you fear that you might not be able to leave here alive? It's the CIA headquarters, not your garden."

Jungkook chuckled softly, pushing off the car and stepping back. "To me, it's more interesting than a garden. And you are here, aren't you? Don't you love me? Oh, my mistake. I forgot for a second how you play with emotions," he said angrily, then continued with a soft taunt, "And why don't you take care of your friend? Leave it to me; I'm doing much better than you ever will."

YN's heart sank, confusion and fear gripping her. "Whom ar—WHAT DID YOU DO TO HIM?" she shouted.

He turned, smirked, and walked away, disappearing into the shadows of the parking garage. YN watched him go, her mind racing. He was talking about Taehyung.

She fumbled for her phone, frantically dialing V's number again. This time, she wouldn't stop until she got an answer. The line rang and rang, each unanswered call increasing her anxiety. Finally, she heard his voice, groggy and confused.

"Hello?" V answered.

"Taehyung! Are you okay?" YN asked, her voice shaking.

"YN? Yeah, I'm fine. What's going on?" he replied, now sounding more alert.

Relief washed over her, but she knew the danger wasn't over. "Stay where you are. I'll explain everything later. Just be careful, okay?"

"Alright, YN. Be safe," V said before hanging up

Taehyung's house:

He was in his room when suddenly the doorbell rang. Startled, he ended the call and turned around, puzzled by the late-night interruption. With cautious steps, he approached the door and called out, "Who is it?"

There was a moment of silence, then a voice from outside responded, "It's me, Yeji, Agent Phoenix."

Relief washed over Taehyung as he quickly opened the door. However, the sight that greeted him was unexpected. Yeji stood there with Jimin, J-Hope, Suga, Jin, and RM, all wearing expressions of anger.

"Come inside," Taehyung said, motioning them in. "If the neighbor aunt woke up, it would be tough to handle her anger."

They entered quietly, the tension palpable in the air. Taehyung closed the door behind them and turned to face Yeji, his brow furrowed with concern.

"So, you were betraying us," Taehyung said with a serious expression, looking directly at Yeji. "My identity is exposed, isn't it? The whole team has been searching for you everywhere. YN is blaming herself, thinking it's her carelessness."

"What do you think of yourself?" RM interjected, his voice laced with disappointment, as he looked directly at Taehyung. "We considered you as family, our brother. We trusted you. What YN and you did to us..." RM's gaze was piercing, holding Taehyung accountable.

Jin stepped forward, his eyes reflecting hurt and frustration. "YN left a deep wound in his heart. He's becoming more and more troubled day by day, and you..." His voice faltered, overwhelmed by the emotions stirring within him. "Is it so easy for you to play with someone's emotions?"
