Pilot: Diary of the Past

I still could remember what happened back then. I might be young or still growing up my teenage years when a really bad thing happened before my eyes. Everything crumbled and pained my heart.

October 30

'ICE, promise me never leave my daughter's side.'

'At all cost, please, stay with her.'

'We're blessing whatever might store between the two of you. Just please, no matter what do leave here.'

Those are the pleading request that my adoptive guardian that I already looked up to as my parents told me. I could not find the right words to say but to nod at their request before they pushed me away.

'GO AND RUN!'

'DON'T LOOK BACK, OUR LITTLE ICE.'

'BE WITH HER. GO, NOW!!!'

I am crying as I did not wish to leave them but chaos already erupted in their meeting. Everything was set up and they knew that it will come that's why I'm with them and their very trusted lawyer-bodyguard. They both wanted me to witness things since they've been preparing to handle what they've been doing in between the light and the dark.

'We should help them.'

'And you know we can't. We're outnumbered. Learn from this.'

'What should I learn from this event? How can I explain it to her? She'll be broken heart…'

'Not unless you stay with her.'

'But how can I do that when I couldn't even protect her parents?!'

'You have to be strong for her and for what they've left for you.'

'What are you talking about?'

'I will train you with every knowledge that I have. We will know how things work in Marques and at the right time of your maturity in every field, I will give it to you.'

Everyone in the family mourned at the loss of the family head of the Marques but their only heir has to be protected at all costs. I went to my training even harder than usual while I kept checking on her whenever I found time to do so.

December 1

'Ditching training classes again, ICE?'

'Well, you caught me, Sabrina.'

'How long it has been since the last time we talked like this?'

'Since they've left us.'

'That's last month…and still fresh…'

'Sorry, I couldn't-'

'Don't. I'm not blaming you. I know you could also have died there but the anger get the best out of me and slapped it on your face. Sorry.'

'Sabrina…'

'ICE, I will take what my parents left for me and you should too.'

'I will that's why I wanted to be strong and clever.'

'Good to hear. When you will be released in your training?'

'Hmm, not sure since it will depend on the result of my training…I guess…'

'I see, then I will give a motivation.'

'Let me hear it then.'

'You better built yourself as what you've promised to my parents as I do mine. Then after five or ten years, stay with me for good.'

'Sabrina, what are you saying?'

'Promise me, ICE, that you'll wait for my return.'

'Where are you going?'

'Promise me.'

'You know, I do.'

'Good, I'll be retiring now, it's late.'

'Sab…'

'Ten years, Caine. Let's meet again. Goodnight.'

'Night.'

Those were the last words that I exchanged with the person I should have protected but when the morning hits the ground for another day, she was gone. Losing her, it was like I lost another reason to live but what promise we've made, kept the hope fired up within me.
