Chapter 26 Failed To Apologize

Chapter 26 Failed to Apologize

After Damien and the others closed the door behind them, Silver collapsed back into her seat and rubbed her forehead.

Gigan too sat back down lost in his thoughts.

"Why do you think the god queen chose him?" He asked as his brown eyes focused on Silver.

"I don't know but according to my speculation, it might be love at first sight."

"I don't believe that!" Gigan denied.

"By the way, how did your clan know about the rainbow liquid?" Silver asked as she raised her vision focusing her piercing eyes on him. She didn't want to miss any changes of his expression.

"Let's just say that our clan leader has connections." He said without a change in expression.

Silver tried to read any information she might gain from his expression but it proved useless prompting her to move her gaze away.

"It seems those three aren't favoured by their clan leaders." Gigan changed the topic.

"Why do you say so?" Asked Silver nonchalantly. Her tone suggested that she wasn't really interested in knowing about them.

Clans weren't formed by families but instead brought together people with the same divinities or ones which complemented each other.

Even though they were mighty, many factions existed in them and all were striving to gain the clan leader's favour since god kings/queens had access to rare treasures.

"They seemed panicked when they left this place to run back and inform the clan leaders of the new information."

"I hope their clan leaders change them, mostly that Blue guy. He creeps me out with his gaze." Silver complained.

"Goddesses are rare. Who doesn't want to marry one?" Gigan asked as his eyes roamed her form. But he didn't take action.

His clan knew that she was heavily favoured by her clan leader and any one who tries to do something bad to her would simply be inviting a calamity upon themselves. The other three weren't privy to such information since they weren't favoured in their respective clans.

"Blue Waver is too arrogant. Am wondering why their leader chose him?" Gigan muttered to himself as he stroked his brown beard.

"I hope they don't cause any problems and ruin our reputation in front of the god queen." Silver said.

"By the way, do you have any information about which god emperor/empress chose her as the replacement of the Nightmare god king?" She continued as she curiously looked at him.

"Even we don't know. But I have a suspicion that the clan leader knows but he refused to divulge." Gigan shook his head.

"The clan leader sent me to be her secretary because I think her background isn't simple or else he might have chosen any other god." Silver said as she remembered how grave the clan leader had looked when he learned of the person who would replace the Nightmare god king.

------------

"We need to advertise after some decorating." Damien said as they reached the plaza with the monolith in the middle of the city.

"You should have proposed it at the table. Those clans should have been able to advertise for you." Dark said as she walked on his left side.

"I forgot. But do you think those clans will accept what I proposed?"

Damien turned to Dark inquisitively.

"It is advantageous to them. They should accept it. But you proposed them a plan without any risks, isn't it too good to them?" Dark asked and even the two who were following behind them grunted in acknowledgement.

"Those people don't know how valuable these properties are going to become. Just wait! They might even want to renegotiate once they see it." He said as a smile formed on his lips.

'The first person to settle in will make me lose money. Damn it!' He cursed in his mind.

They entered the teleportation formation and went back to the platform.

"I have finished negotiations with them." Damien reported as he stood beneath the throne in the palace as he reported to the figure occupying it.

Phoenix was currently struggling to avoid his vision.

'I need to apologise to him but...I am a god queen, ruler of Pantheon city. I can't bow down to a mere demigod.' She was caught in dilemma.

She didn't want him to hate her, but her pride and upbringing was preventing her from apologising.

It led to her perspiring profusely soaking through her golden gown but she didn't want to move a muscle. She didn't want him to catch any flaw in her.

She was seated like someone who was waiting for a scolding. Back straight, knees together and her hands resting on her thighs. The throne looked like it didn't suit her by the way she was seated.

"I suppose I can allow whatever you agreed upon with them." She answered with a stiff voice.

"Okay. Do you have any more duties for me?" Damien asked.

He was addressing her politely. He was trying to create a distance between them since he was wary of her mood swings. Being too familiar might lead to consequences which might not be good for him, as evidenced by her act towards Lino.

Phoenix noticed the politeness and lamented in her mind but she didn't want to lay down her pride to remedy the solution.

A few seconds passed as they quietly looked at each other with no sound coming out.

"I implore you to spread information about the venture to other cities." Damien broke the awkward silence with a request.

"...yes I will." It took her sometime but she finally answered.

"It's time I take my leave." He said as he turned around.

"Ah! When can you remove your seal so that my hair can how back again?" He asked as he abruptly turned back around after remembering.

"Can I count it as you forgiving me if I give you back your ability to grow hair?" Phoenix stood up violently as she jumped at the chance to make amends without the need for an apology.

"These two things are separate. I can't believe you could even suggest that?" Damien berated seriously. He looked like someone who had been heartbroken when he said the statement.

He stormed out of the palace after saying his piece without even giving her a chance at explaining.

Phoenix's face turned pale before she collapsed back into her throne with a despair filled look.

'Now he absolutely hates me.' She thought.

She had never had anyone aside from her parents move her heart in the way he did. She didn't know the feeling but she didn't want him to hate her.

'Heh, you are still too young! But I lost this chance to get my hair back. A fisherman must be patient if he wants to snare the big fish.' Damien comforted himself as he gazed back towards the palace from under the stairs.

His goal was to get that woman to love him. Though his heart still hadn't shown any inkling as to who it would fall in love with. He was simply vaguely chasing his dream of getting a harem but even he didn't have a concrete reason as to why.

He simply thought that a great man must have multiple wives.

'I don't know much about courting but the little tricks I picked up during my life in the universe might work.' He thought to himself as he exited the palace gates.

Dark's house, was located behind the first house on the right side of the middle path.

Damien took the little path which skirted between the first house and the palace walls as he headed towards it.

'It seems I will have to invite the representative of the Munene clan to at least form the fences and to provide some flora so that the place doesn't look like its dead.' He thought as he looked around at the golden structures. It was so empty and desolate that you might think its a ruin.

Lino and Itetia were temporarily going to stay with Dark before a decision was reached on where the servants ought to stay.

Dark had told Damien that behind the palace, there was a mansion and that Phoenix might let them stay there. Even she will have to move out since these properties will be for business only.

"Dark, I need to contact the representative of the Munene clan so that he could turn the place into a vibrant one so that the advertisements manage to pull in some people." He suggested the moment he sat down in the middle sofa with Dark.

Even though she seemed calm on the surface, waves were raging in her mind due to their proximity.

She was still in the same attire and the dress had ridden up to the middle of her thighs upon sitting down.

She wanted to run away but couldn't come up with an excuse.

"I will give it to you." She tried to calm herself down as she rummaged through her red bag for her device.

Damien simply looked on with a mischievous smile seeing her trying very hard to look composed.

Lino and Itetia had gone to bed since they were tired. The two were sharing Dark's bed.

Dark's heart beat accelerated when he draped his left hand upon the arm rest behind her. She slowed down her movements as her mind went haywire.

She turned as red as a tomato. She looked like a bomb about to blow up.

"Are you that afraid of me?" He asked.
