Chapter 6

"Beatrice, can you hand these print outs to Gene after class? You're good friends and all..." Our class president approached me during lunch break.

Gene was absent from school the day after we encountered Auriel in the library. He probably had a hard time walking because of his sprain.

"Sure!" I accepted the papers.

After class ended, I walked towards Gene's house, which was near school. When I got there, I rang the doorbell, but there was no answer. I tried to look through the window. The house was empty. There were neither people nor furniture.

"The family moved out," said an old woman who must have been one of the neighbors.

His family moved?

"Do you happen to know their new address?" I asked. "I have to deliver something."

"The family moved out of town. I don't know their new address. Their son stayed behind though. I heard he is staying at the boarding house, Aqua Chrysalis."

The news shocked me.

Gene never mentioned this to me.

"Aqua Chrysalis?" I repeated.
