Claire's Sickness

Victor reached the Holt Mansion and parked his bike in front of the main entrance as usual. The guards had stopped him at the gate since he was no longer Claire's bodyguard, and his clearance had been revoked. However, the guards had received a call from Amanda Holt, Claire's mother, to let him in.

As Victor walked into the reception hall, he found Amanda waiting at the entrance with a worried expression.

"Victor… I'm sorry I had to ask you to come here at such short notice. I know you have resigned from your position as a bodyguard. However, it's an urgent matter."

Victor nodded. "What happened? Is Claire safe?"

Amanda frowned and fidgeted. She was unsure about how to begin.

"My daughter is safe indeed, thanks to you. But ever since you left her so abruptly, Claire hasn't been herself."

Victor raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean?"

Amanda resumed walking, and Victor followed her as they talked.
