Chapter 1

Mandy:

My name is Mandy Fletcher, I am twenty-two years old. Live in a city called Rockingham in Florida. I didn't always plan on living here, in fact when my job at Washington State suggested relocating me south I declined without a second thought. But you know how it goes, your boss starts treating you uncommon compared to your peers, and even rumors that you yourself knew nothing about spread like wildfire. The second time I was offered, I accepted without batting an eye. Thus, brings us to Florida where I am the leading manager in the sales department in the Florida district of Dragon Invention. I like my job, in fact, I love my job. I guess one of the reasons why I dedicate almost all of my time to work is because I for one have no social life; I have no family of my own either. I lived most of my life as an orphaned living from foster care to the streets, but I swore to myself, I'd be someone in my life and to never have someone to hold me back.

Actually, I guess I lied when I said I don't have family… my best friend Adelaide, who I consider my sister lived with me throughout my childhood. She too is a successful person, since she's remarkably gorgeous, she got a break in a modeling agency and travels around the world being the face of Courage beauty. I am so proud of Adelaide, always makes my heart full to think of how we both succeeded even though we are both in our early twenties. Adelaide is truly a gorgeous woman; she has a voluptuous body complimented with c-cup breasts, a pretty fulfilled butt, and her porcelain-like face, big green eyes, very large lips, and thin nose. Also, she has naturally blonde hair and long almost reaching her lower back. May I add she's my roommate? Yeah, whenever she isn't traveling the world taking half-naked or extreme close-up pictures of her face she's here in Rockingham Florida with me.

"Andy!" Adelaide walks out all glamorous in a short cocktail dress. "Why aren't you even ready?" She scoffs and pulls my hand leading me to my room.

"I work in the morning, plus tomorrow is a big day the new CEO will be appointed and that big meeting is being held in our tower," I say as I pout.

"It's ten by the time we get to the club, it'll be eleven, you can be back home and sound asleep by two if we leave in the next ten minutes. Get dressed." She ordered me in a harsh tone as she threw a slutty black dress I refused to wear in the past next to me and points to it. "You'll wear that for being so troublesome to me."

"Ade-"

"Let's go!"

I sigh and roll my eyes, but in the end, she got what she wanted. I look at myself in the mirror unable to recognize the person who stared back. Adelaide had done some eyeliner, mascara, blush, highlighter, lip stain, and lipgloss. My brown eyes seemed lighter against the black of the eyeliner but because of the eyeliner, my eyes seemed more almond-shaped. My thick long brown hair was pulled into a tight slit ponytail, to be honest, it's hurting me a bit. The dress has a very steep V-neck line that shows midway of my upper torso. At the edges of the dress, there are black Swarovski crystals leading up to my breasts making a design. Also, the skirt of the dress is uncomfortably short for my taste, and the heels! I reckon is the only thing I like that I'm wearing right now. The necklace I always wear since I was a little girl, gleamed in the reflection of the mirror.

"Let's get this over with." I sigh while stepping out of my room and showing myself, to Adelaide. She claps her hands like a damn cheerful cheerleader and hands me a small black purse.

Once we arrived at the night-club a lot of people were calling out to Adelaide and waving hi, I sometimes forget she's somewhat a celebrity. We were even invited to the elite VIP section thanks to one of Adelaide's producers being present. I was given a few drinks and danced with Adelaide and only her. Some men would approach us, but only Adelaide would dance with them. I'd only go for another drink or went on my phone trying to avoid any unwanted eye contact.

"Having fun?" Adelaide asks practically shouting since the music is very loud.

I nod as I took a sip of my drink. "The Alcohol is starting to hit me…" I cackle while I said it.

"Adelaide!" A gentleman interrupted practically forcing us to part and face him. He's fairly tall and dressed pretty well, his short hair was stubby and so was his beard. "You came!" He kisses her cheek but I could tell Adelaide is a bit displeased with him for she pulls me next to her and kind of hides me behind her.

"Jeffrey, I didn't know you'd be here." She forces a smile.

"Really? I thought you were still trying to avoid me." He laughs as he gives her a small wink. "I've been wanting to have a word with you my little Adelaide." I felt uncomfortable by his demeanor and pulled Adelaide so there could be a great distance between them.

"Well Jeffrey it was nice seeing you we're going now," I say pulling Adelaide who simply follows my lead.

I felt a slight tug and came to a halt, I turn to see Jeffrey had taken a hold of Adelaide's hand, he's saying something to her but I couldn't understand anything. I pull once more and this time he glares at me. The dizziness from the drinks was starting to hit but I felt a cold sweat run down my body as I felt a fight or run reaction to what's going on.

"I just want to talk to her." He snapped still holding Adelaide.

"Let her go you freak!" I yelled causing people to stare. In all of this, Adelaide was trying to free herself from his grip and she kept yelling at him to let her go.

I let go of Adelaide and quickly looked around me, once I saw an empty champagne glass on a table near us, I picked up an empty champagne glass then smashed it against the table and got right in Jeffrey's face pointing the broken glass at him. I noted that from my hand dripped blood but I cared not. I felt like Adelaide truly was avoiding this man and seeing how openly he thinks he can grab her leads me to believe he did something.

"Let her fucking go! Now!" I shout handshaking but ready to slice him if I have to.

"Mandy!" Adelaide takes a hold of my hand and grabs the glass. "Let's go." She says eyes filled with tears as she takes a look into my hand.

A few men gathered around Jeffrey who only glared at us. "You think you're tough huh?!" He shouts charging to us followed by the men beside him. Adelaide and I held each other tightly aware we were the losers in this fight and no chances of escaping from their clutches. Suddenly, six men jumped in front of us and brawl against the men who were charging right at us. Adelaide and I were pulled back by two other men who also guided us to a nearby section.

"Stay here!" The tall man who had taken a hold of me,  his Emerald green eyes staring into mine. I found myself nodding as he took off his coat and rolled up his sleeves. He looks over to the man who had taken Adelaide and cocks his head in the direction of the fight.

Adelaide gazes at me and runs to me, she then took a hold of my hands. "You're cut pretty deep."

I nervously laugh, "It was gonna be worse for him." Adelaide hugs me as she cries.

"I'll end you!" Jeffrey yelled like a maniac, "I'll post all of your pictures!" Adelaide pulls away from me and with terror in her eyes she stares at Jeffrey who is pinned down.

"What pictures?" I ask Adelaide.

I followed Adelaide right next to them but the guy who had escorted Adelaide kindly held us back and spoke into Adelaide's ear. She shakes her head but he nods his. I focused my attention back on Jeffrey who is now being confronted by the guy who just told me to stay back.

"I bet you feel extremely invincible don't you?" The man who had just ordered me to stay behind kneels down in front of Jeffrey. "I bet you could end her career." He chuckles and gestures with his hand up and the guys who have Jeffery pinned down pulled him up to his feet. There was a huge crowd staring at everything some even had phones out, but different men approached those with phones and after they spoke to them they'd quickly put their phones away.

"I don't care what you and they have going on, I really couldn't give a fuck, I'm trying to enjoy my last night being me, but the minute you make the call to beat on women and call on your pussy ass friends to join is where I find my problem with you." He shouts angrily at Jeffrey. He then pulls his hand back in a fist and punches Jeffrey with such a force I believe could break anyone's hand.

"Where are the security guards?" I ask Adelaide.

Adelaide glances around and points behind us, I look at where she pointed and saw a bunch of security just standing and watching. I ran up to them and angrily yelled at them loud enough to be heard from anywhere.

"Aren't you going to stop this!?" I confronted them but was quickly pulled back by Adelaide.

"I don't know who they are but they're power people if they get to have this kind of control," Adelaide tells me as she leads me back to where we were previously standing. I think she took a liking to the guy who kindly smiled down at her. I'm glad she seems to be calmed I for one am dizzy and a bit worried for Jeffrey who is getting his ass beat by Mr. Stay here.

"Nicholia!" The guy who is now buddy-buddy with Adelaide yells out causing Mr. Stay here to land one last punch before he wipes his bloody knuckles on Jeffrey's shirt.

"Don't ever, ever fucking dare hit a woman again you piece of shit." Mr. Stay here who I assume his name is Nicholia spits at Jeffrey's feet before waving his hand and turns to face us. Eyes green eyes dart from Adelaide then to me then down at my hand.

"Polotentse," He says as he held out a hand and a very pretty girl handed him a towel or napkin.  "You're hand." I gape at him puzzled at first but then exceeded his order.

His warm hand took mine and he placed the towel on my hand and dapped a bit to see how deep my injury is. I watched him puzzled trying to figure him out: strong enough to beat the shit out of someone, powerful enough to control his surroundings but a complete gentle brute as he tends to my wound? Who are you?

I began to feel hot while I stood, my legs were beginning to lock on me as my vision became blurry and my hearing was going in and out. I took a hold of his hand in order not to fall but everything was fast and the last thing I knew was hearing Adelaide scream my name and a hard hit on the side of my head.
