Chapter 90

“What’s up?” Henry said when he spotted us.

“We need to call a cab to take us over to the clinic,” Marco said.

“We’ll be glad to run you over there.”

“There’s no need for you to have to deal with all that traffic again.”

“Nonsense,” William said. “We’ll drive you over there and, if it makes you feel better, you can take a cab back here when you’re done.”

“Okay, thanks.”

Our hosts dropped us off at the clinic, and we went inside in search of the clinic director, Dr. Stephens. When we walked into his office he said, “Dr. d’Argenzio.”

“That would be me,” Marco said, “and this is my partner, Dr. Rosati.”

We’d barely finished shaking hands all around when Marco jumped straight to the subject at hand.

“What’s the latest news?”

“As of ten minutes ago,” Dr. Stephens said, “it was over. You have three healthy sons.” There was a hint of hesitation in his voice.

“What aren’t you telling us,” Marco said.
