“Yes, I am.”

“This sudden concern has something to do with the phone call you got, doesn’t it?” I said.

“Yes it does. I really didn’t like the way SignorPiedmont Winery reacted at the meeting this afternoon, so when I was back in my room, I called someone in his city.”

“And?” Marco said.

“My friend called to tell me that this is a very bad man, and he is suspected of being involved with criminals on more than one occasion.”

“Wow,” Marco said. “It never occurred to me to run a background check on the managers. I guess it should have, but it didn’t.”

“I have taken the liberty of setting that in motion,” Giuseppe said. “I also called someone in Verona to help. He’ll be here in the morning.”

“Do you really think Marco is in danger?” I said.

“I don’t think the man will have had time to plan anything,” Giuseppe said, “but what if he decides to act on impulse?”

“Would you feel better if you moved into our spare bedroom?” I said.
