Chapter 48

“Hello, Sal. I’m so glad we haven’t found your replacement yet. I need for you to go to the villa right now, and be prepared to stay for a few days.”

“Why?”

I filled him in on the details.

“I’ll be there in thirty minutes,” he said.

“Thanks, Sal.”

I placed a call to Rome and gave Joel the news. He promised to bring whatever pressure to bear that he could. Then I called my father and told him what had happened.

“Do you need the Lear today?” he said.

“There’s not much point in my flying down there right now. I’ll hold off on that until either we know more, or there appears to be something I can do down there that I can’t do from here.”

“I think that’s wise of you. Keep me informed, if you will.”

“Of course. Thank you.”

I called Grandmother and brought her up to date as to what I had done, and she told me that Floria was getting Sal settled in a guest room in the house.
