Chapter 18

“Earth to Dani,” I said, then looked at my father. “I’ve seen that expression on him before. He’s lost in thought—already working out the requirements for a lab, no doubt.”

I reached over and rapped Dani on the head with my knuckles. “Anyone in there?”

He snapped out of it and looked at us blankly. “What?”

“I asked you a question, Dani.”

“Sorry. My mind was off on a dozen tangents, thinking how best to solve the problem. What question?”

“What do you think about all of this? Shall we move to Aragoni?”

“Do you really have to ask?”

“Probably not—I know you too well. However, Father doesn’t know you at all.”

“All I have to say is, when do we start, and when can I see the lab? I’ve already got a laundry list of equipment in my head, and I’ll think of more when I can get to my laptop and start making notes.”

“Agreed,” I said. “I’m ready to go to work, so why not in Aragoni?”
