Another Quest Completed

Getting to Violet's house, Jake knocked on the gate and was answered by the security guard. "Good evening." Jake said to the security guard.

"Evening, who are you here to see?" the security guard asked.

"I'm here to see Violet." Jake answered.

"Okay, hold on. Let me inform my employer." the security guard said then walked away.

After waiting for a short period of time, the security guard came back and opened the gate to let Jake into the compound.

"Ring the doorbell on the left-hand side of the porch." the security guard said to Jake.

"Thanks." Jake said then walked to the house.

After pushing the button for the doorbell, Jake heard a woman from inside the house say "Coming" then the footsteps of someone approaching the door.

Seeing the door open, Jake saw a woman with purple hair and brown eyes standing in the doorway. "Good evening ma'am. I'm Jake, a friend of Violet's." Jake said to the woman.

"Oh I'm Teresa, Violet's mom. Come in." she said as she moved away from the doorway.

Stepping into the house, Jake saw himself in a room which wasn't too big and appeared to be used for entertaining guests.

"Jake." Violet said from the end of the room.

"Hey." Jake said while walking behind Teresa to meet Violet.

Stepping into the living room, Jake saw a man who he assumed was Violet's father. "Good evening sir." Jake said to the man.

"Dad, this a friend of mine, Jake." Violet said.

After getting a grunt as a reply from the man, Jake looked at Violet.

"This way." Violet said then walked away from the living room. "Don't mind him, he doesn't like it when boys visit me. He's overprotective."

"It's cool, I understand."

Following Violet, Jake went through a door and was walking down a brightly lit passageway. Going through another door, Jake saw himself in a fuchsia coloured room.

Knowing he was in Violet's room, Jake said to her "Nice choice of colour."

"Thanks, but I'm thinking of changing it." Violet said.

"Why? You don't like this one?" Jake asked.

"I like it, but I've gotten tired of it."

"What are you planning on changing it to?"

"Maybe magenta."

"Isn't magenta similar to fuchsia?"

"Yes but the shades are different. Magenta is a bit darker." Violet said to Jake.

"Alright, so what's up?" Jake asked as he sat on a sofa in the room and Violet sat next to him on the sofa.

"Nothing much, still working on the thing that has to do with my magic." Violet said.

"Which is?"

"Right now my magic isn't very strong, I can keep things in my magical dimension for hours but it's not still not strong enough. I'm trying to get it to evolve." Violet answered.

Confused, Jake asked "Evolve?"

"Yes, magic can evolve, but not all. They haven't taught you that yet?"

"No." Jake said as he began thinking. 'If magic can evolve, then how strong will my magic be if it evolves?'

"You guys still have a lot to learn." Violet said.

"Yeah. Can I see you use your magic?" Jake asked.

"Sure." Making some very fast slight movements with her hands, a bluish portal opened up in the air.

Moving closer to Violet on the sofa, Jake saw the portal better then put his hand on her shoulder. "This is really amazing. Can you control the size of the portal?"

"Yes." Moving her hands again, the size of the portal increased and reduced.

[Condition to mimic magic has been met]

[You have successfully mimicked Magical Dimensions]

[You will lose mimicked magic after 24 hours at your current level]

[Hidden Quest Completed: Mimic 5 magical abilities]

[Reward: Magic +5]

[Magic: 23]

Seeing the system messages appear, Jake thought 'Hidden quest completed again, why should there be quests that are hidden?' Removing his hand from Violet's shoulder and asked her "Do you need to move your hands to use your magic?"

"No, I can control my magic without moving my hands but moving my hands makes it easier." Violet answered.

"Okay so how do you use it?"

"Why do you want to know?" Violet asked.

"I want to see if it's hard to use your magic." Jake said.

"Let me guess, you already mimicked my magic."

"Yes, now I want to use it, so teach me."

"First," Violet said, "tell me how you mimicked my magic."

Although Jake knew he probably shouldn't tell Violet his condition for mimicking magic, but he was asking her to teach him how to use her magic. So it wouldn't be fair for him to ask that without telling her what she wants to know.

"By touching you." Jake said. "I mimicked your magic by touching you."

"I knew something was up when you came closer and put your hand on my shoulder."

"Why didn't you say anything?" Jake asked.

"I didn't feel like."

"I've answered your question, so teach me how to use your magic."

"It's not difficult." Violet said. "Does your ring have a magical dimension?"

"Yeah."

"Using my magic is similar to when you want to open the portal leading to the ring's magical dimension. It's similar but it's harder than that. When you trigger the magic, you will be able to see something like the schematic of the portal in your mind." Violet explained.

"Okay, let me try that." Triggering magic was no longer a problem for Jake, he was close to being able to use magic without triggering it. His only problem was when he mimics a new type of magic, using it would be a little difficult because he had no idea how it worked.

He could practice using the magic and learn how to use it on his own but learning from the person who had the magic was a lot easier.

Triggering Violet's magic, Jake could see what she was talking about. He could see a diagram of the portal but it didn't exactly look like the portal. It looked like a magical blueprint of the portal.

"Okay, I can see the image, what now?" Jake asked.

"Now you can either try projecting the image outside with your mind or you can just use your hands to sort of, draw what you're seeing outside. I know it doesn't really make sense, but do you understand?"

"I think I do." Moving his hands, Jake was drawing what he could see in his mind on the air. "How does it look?" Jake asked when he was done.

"Not bad." Violet said.

Looking at the reddish misshapen portal in the air next to Violet's portal, Jake said "Don't lie to me, it looks horrible."

"Okay you're right, but the fact that you were able to form the portal in the first place is amazing. I wasn't able to form the portal on my first try, and besides the appearance doesn't really matter. As long as you have a portal, you can access the magical dimension, a downside of having a misshapen portal is it won't be as good as a normal portal."

"What do you mean?"

"There are some things you won't be able to put through a misshapen portal. Like living things, things with high masses and so on. The heavier and the larger the object, the more mana it will take to keep the object in the magical dimension."

Checking his system screen, Jake saw the strength of Violet's magic.

[Mimicked magic: Magical Dimensions]

[Strength of mimicked magic: 48]

'So her magic is already this strong. It's only a matter of time before my magic reaches this level.'
