Chapter 4

"I love you, I know originally it was something arranged by our parents when we were young but as time went by I began to fall in love with you Renata Nasir. I want you to be my partner, my companion, my friend and more especially my wife; in this life and the next." Those words… those very same words rang inside Renata's mind as she got pulled into a memory.

It was Renata's previous life, 200 years ago. She was watching her 17 year old self being confessed to by 17 year old Killian. He had a shy smile and there was a faint blush as he stretched his head out of nervousness, he nervously looked at Renata's reaction who was blushing and fiddling with her hands.

The boy who she had developed a crush on for these past three years was standing in front of her confessing, she had not dared to hope previously that he also felt the same way.

Even when he was kind, he did not seem to show much interest in her. To say she was lost for words was an understatement. Killian got more nervous as he observed Renata's lack of response. He could tell she was processing his words but he was not sure if she would agree. Julie had told him that Renata definitely liked him, otherwise he would not have taken this chance.

He wondered if Julie lied or she had misunderstooded Renata. Before he could finish that thought, his doubts were unfounded as Renata looked up to him with a small smile and tears welling up.

"I'm sorry, did I scare you?!" Killian was slightly panicked, "No. Its just that I never thought you would feel the same way I did." Killian thought, so Julie was right after all, and a small smile curled on his lips.

The 200 year old soul of Renata that was observing the memories thought, "Oh, I guess it was like that." She wondered how she missed that glint in his eyes. "Seems like my observation skills were never that good." A sense of sadness creeped in her heart and something else…

Anger. She was not filled with despair anymore but the fear was still there, she got even more angry as she saw more of their 'happy moments' before they got married at 19. Every passing moment filled her with anger, even that small shadow was there during those so called happy moments.

As she continued looking in her memories, a black door appeared that was locked with chains, she could already guess it held the memory of her death. She remembered those finally moments but she vaguely felt there was something else lurking around that day.

She was still not brave enough so she would not open that door as of yet. As she looked through the 200 year old memories and that of the current body, they were eerie similar up until the day she woke up.

During these three months, it was the period Killian was busy getting to know the basics in

his family's company, the difference in this life is that he was in secluded cultivation preparing to enter the Heavenly Palace which was a third ranked academy in the top 4 of the academies. His cultivation was 8 layer Qi Refining, when he was seven he had opened 9 veins.

Even if he did not reach 9 layers after coming out of seclusion, one of the elders of the academy would still take him as a direct disciple and possibly even a great elder might take him as his or her direct disciple. 9 vein geniuses were rare but not like 10 vein geniuses.

Looking at it this way Renata felt there was no reason for him to still pursue this marriage, in this life she was useless even if her family was a silver ranked family and the Rhode family was ranked as a Red Upper house. Killian still possessed greater talent, in less than a hundred years they could enter the ranks of a silver family.
