Brennan and Alexander only knew each other a few days before, they so-called fought against Darius. Well, at least that's what they made Ravana believe until the servants managed to take her out.
The two of them met because of Robbie.
Robbie Hunter is a young man that Alexander has known for so many years, they were friends even before Rachelle arrive and before their lives turned upside down because of Amber's plotting.
After finding out what Amber did. Robbie decided to pursue that young woman that he once loved to avenged Kristy Hunter, his little sister which Amber killed out of pure rage.
When Brennan found out what actually happened, they formed an alliance. And decided that only after they killed Amber, will they settle their own dispute. Because Brennan holds grudge against Robbie after Malory's death – Brennan's lover who was killed by Amber.
Brennan was blaming Robbie because Robbie was there that night when Amber killed her entire family and burned the Stone manor. Yet he didn't do anything to stop her.
At the end of their journey, Robbie suffered a fatal blow from Amber. And at his dying moments, he requested that Brennan return a locket to Alexander.
The younger man did as requested for two reasons; one because it was the wish of a dying man, and second, because during their journey he became close to Robbie. To the point where he considers Robbie as the brother he never had.
After returning the locket, Brennan and Alexander become close friends.
Sending another arrow, Brennan intentionally aimed to the ground. The explosion created a screen of dust, blinding Darius for a good few seconds.
The young man then run towards the blonde, "Alexander are you alright?" he asked. Taking one of Alexander's arms and hoisted it in his shoulder to help the blonde run away.
"I am, thank you for your help" Alexander replied weakly.
"How did you know what's happening here?" he asked breathlessly.
"It's a long story," Brennan shook his head.
Brennan set Alexander on the ground, his orbs eyeing the wounds in his temples. The blood dripped on either side of his head, trickling down all the way to his chin before dropping into the ground.
He cringed, this can't be good, Brennan thought.
"I'm alright Brennan, don't worry about me" the blonde reassured him.
"But that-" he protested.
"It will heal" Alexander cut him off, the blonde standing up. Once again ready to fight.
Brennan could only look at Alexander with worry in his eyes, this man is stubborn. he thought. But Alexander knows himself more than Brennan, therefore the younger male decided to leave him be.
"Do you have any plan to beat this thing?" Brennan asked, eyeing the monster. While it is desperately trying to look for Alexander in the nearby ground. Its damaged eyes still healing.
"We do have a plan, and that is why I'm here to buy time" Alexander mumbled lowly.
"I see" Brennan pulled out another arrow if it was time they need. Then he will be more than happy to help them buy time even just a little bit more.
On the other side of the battle, the witch sensed the danger looming over her body.
Using this wooden puppet of hers means she can't move her real body- leaving her defenseless. And it will require some time for her consciousness to go back into her real body.
In a moment of panic, the monster containing her consciousness growled. A crooked finger pointed in the direction of her body. "Protect me at all cause!" she ordered her servant.
But Brennan beat the opponents with a quick response. Sending an arrow in Darius' direction, an explosion followed as it landed.
However, just like before, Darius managed to dodge the arrow. Escaping the death it brought along and only retaining a small cut in his cheek. Due to a small shard of the metal head that flew past the arm, when he covered his face.
When Darius arrived at the place where they left Ravana's real body, Rachelle and the servants were standing over Ravana's body.
Rachelle glanced at Darius when he arrived, their eyes meeting for a quick moment.
The others immediately separated to give him a path to walk through.
At that moment, he knew that his freedom was assured.
Silence took over the forest as a hand plunged the blade into the witch's chest. Half of the weapon's length disappeared in the witch's chest, her blood sips through the wound.
The light in her eyes disappeared, shock and betrayal were the last expressions her face bore as she died.
Darius pulled out the sword, his gaze landing on the women in front of him.
"You did well" he praised them, his purple eyes gazing back to Ravana.
He never liked Ravana. Of course, nobody would, she was a cruel and evil woman. Hence, her death was well deserved.
It's over now, he thought.
In the morning, only freedom awaits.
He held the subterranean sword upright, blood covering half of its length. The metal glinting from the light of the moon.
Soon he will be home. Soon he will live a normal life, one that has nothing to do with monsters and witches.
A normal life away from all of this chaos.
Slowly he placed the sword back into the scabbard. His purple eyes watch as Ravana's body turns into ash, crumbling away and slowly being carried by the wind.
After Ravana's death, the three men – Alexander, Brennan, and Darius separated ways.
Alexander stayed at the Kirkland mansion with Rachelle to live his best life.
Brennan went to chase glory by becoming a hunter. With the help of Alexander, he met Oraculi and became his apprentice.
Darius on the other hand begins his journey back to Dead Swamp to meet his family and finally live the normal life he had always been dreaming of.
But of course, no matter what we do. There are times when life will lead us to a different path, one that we never even considered taking before.
And that path led the three back together.
"I thought you were going home," Alexander asked Darius,
Darius chuckled, "That's what I thought too. I thought I can finally quit this mess and live a normal life but I was dragged back into it. Even before I could have the chance to get away." Darius smiled bitterly as he scratched his nape awkwardly.
"What about you? What happened? Where's Rachelle?" Darius asked curiously, even if he had been denying it. It's undeniable that Darius once had feelings for her.
But of course, that was all in the past.
At this point, he no longer feels the same way.
"It's a long story," Alexander shook his head.
"Well, I have the time, so?" Darius smiled at Alexander, making the blonde chuckle.
Yet despite that laugh, Darius could see the sadness in his emerald eyes.
Alexander shook his head, his bittersweet smile still lingering in his pink lips.
"Rachelle…" Alexander bit his lower lips. Trying to find the right words to say it.
"She… she left."
"She left?" Darius was surprised, to say the least, he genuinely thought the two were inseparable. And yet here is Alexander telling him that Rachelle left.
"Yeah… she went home." Alexander pursed his lips making Darius a little doubtful.
"It was in a different country, so following her is quite difficult," Alexander added.
"What about you? What happened?" Alexander desperately wanted to change the subject.
"Well… it had been… difficult I guess you could say." Darius shrugged his shoulders.
"I got caught in so much that I ended up becoming Oraculi's apprentice. I don't really want to talk about it in full detail, because if I do I will have to relive so much shit and I don't want to do that right now." Darius sighed.
Silence filled the room after that, but Alexander decided to speak again.
"I've heard." He began.
"I've heard about the world tree." Alexander took him by surprise.
"How on earth?" Darius furrowed his brows, he thought only the gods know of that.
"Word spread quickly, the nature spirits had been talking about it restlessly. They speak of the possibly worse choice the world tree had ever made. But I have to say, I do think they are wrong." He said.
"When we fought that night, I knew you were strong. You also know how to make a good decision, you know how to make plans and you can consider possibilities. You're level-headed. That's why I think you are fitting for the role." Alexander's words were motivating, that's for sure.
But the problem is, Darius didn't want this. He didn't want to be chosen, and if there's a way out of this - other than death. He will take it without hesitation.
"I have to admit though, I don't want this." He sadly smiled.
"If only the world tree can change its decision then… I will be more than happy to step back." Darius sighed, the conversation is forcing him to think about all the problems he has.
All those worries that had been piling up yet he decided to hide and ignore.
"Even the elve want that, I heard there was a man named Edric. They wanted him to become the chosen hero." Darius chuckled. "Or so I was told," he shrugged his shoulders.
"But for that to happen… they will have to kill me. Is that right?" He asked Alexander.
"Indeed." Alexander nodded slowly. "And that's why you need to be more careful."
"Mama!" Feli chirped as he entered the room, interrupting the conversation.
"Ugh!" Darius could feel the air knock out of him as Feli made his impact. He was too big now, far too big. About the size of a young cattle, while his wingspan was probably a meter and a half long.
"Well Feli is extra energetic," Brennan said as he enter the room after leaving earlier with Oraculi and Feli.
"Let's go back to Clara mama! Pleaseee..." Feli begged.
"No we can't go to Sentry, it was already difficult to hide you before. The guards might start getting suspicious." Darius replied.
"Hide? Can't he use a concealing spell?" Alexander asked.
"Well… Magic is not my strength at this point. So I can't teach him." Darius smiled sadly.
"Do you mind if I help? I can teach him a thing or two while waiting for the twins." Alexander offered.
"That will be wonderful Alexander, now that I think about it you are a mage aren't you?" Darius asked.
"Not quite, I'm an alchemist but I did pick up some spells recently. But I do believe I can help somehow." Alexander explained.
"Thank you" Darius smiled. "Oh and about the mission, care to explain it further?"
"Ah, maybe we can discuss it further after the twins arrived. I already told them that this will be our meeting point while they try to recruit other people to help."
"I see, then let us wait for them."
