The pain of reading documents

As Amon and Roxanne walked inside, they sat on two chairs, waiting for the maids. It is 11:30 a.m. right now. They both were sexually unsatisfied all the time during the war; as usual, they do it nearly every day or sometimes every day. The war didn't need to last long, but it was far too long for the two of them.

But it was too early to do it now; they had much work to do. If this incident with the unknown hadn't happened, both of them would already have had sex, but for now, they waited for the maids to bring the documents they had about the unknown.

They had many documents to carry and warped themselves all over the castle, brining them to everyone of the twelve coats of arms and Amon. Cedric, Jeanne, Meng, Dorothea, and Victor had to protect Bruna and therefore stood watchfully next to her the whole time. The other four would look for information outside the guild. Meng and Dorothea had no problem finding it; they saw it as their duty, but Jeanne and Meng just wanted to avoid the mountains of documents.

The maids, as instructed, went first to all the others and brought them their share of documents, and finally to Amon and Roxanne's room. They welcomed this fact because every second they spent behind closed doors was a critical time.

The maids were all young women; if they heard Roxanne's moaning all the time, they would go crazy. The day when they would finally decide to erect a soundproof barrier had been longed for by the maids for a long time.

A young maid with black hair brought the documents to Amon and Roxanne; she heard neither moaning nor slapping of body parts. It sounded good.

She approached, knocked twice on the door, and then opened it slowly and carefully.

Amon and Roxanne's attention turned to the door as they saw it open. The maiden notices the looks and speaks with a professional tone: "I have brought you the documents, young master."

The maid bowed her head a little bit and brought the documents to the wooden desk where both of them were. They sat on two comfortable chairs as the maid placed the pile of documents on the floor next to them.

As she placed them on the ground, she looked at Amon and asked her something: "Lady Bruna asked if she could have a share of the documents too; she feels unconfortable since everyone makes himself useful except for her. Is she allowed to do so?"

The maid waited for Amon's decision. He had to think about it; he still did not trust Bruna 100 percent, but since she saved Roxanne and was in the company of Victor all the time, he gave his approval.

The maid bowed again and walked out of the room. There were still many documents left that she could gladly look at, because the rest of the documents now had to be investigated by the maid squad since all of them were in Leon's department. They would have to work even harder from now on.

But with Leon, Aiko, and Hiroshi on their side, this would get a lot easier, especially with Leon. He was the fastest one when it came to these things; if they had to work themselves out, they would throw documents again. He was the most reliable person to get help from.

As she was already at the door, Amon gave her a last favor and asked, "For the lunch, could you change this to 1 p.m. or later? Since all of us have work now, I don't want you guys to overwork yourself. So take your time and tell everyone that they must not stress about this matter."

Amon's caring tone made the maid happy, and once again she realized that working here after losing everything was the right decision. There was no better boss than Amon, who cared about every single one of them.

With a happy smile, she bowed down her head and walked out while saying in a gracious manner, "I will make sure to do so, young master."

As the door was closed, Roxanne took the first file of documents and opened it. The documents were delivered in files. In the first file were two pages of documents. They were written on both sides, and there were a total of 20 files stocked as a tower in the room. Roxanne was curious and, in an instant, got to work.

She needed to know how the unknown made it to fight to such a reguard. In her entire life, she has never experienced something similar to this. A mage who fought similar to this was nowhere to be found in her memory.

But now the image of the fight was burned into her memory—the movements, the weapons—everything was clearly seeable in her mind as if it were forged by steel.

Amon also took a file without saying anything; he knew how proud Roxanne was of her skills; she was a telent that managed to get this strong in a matter of a few years, and now all this talent mixed with training has hit a wall out of the Unknown.

To Amons wonder, there were quite many reports about seeings from the Unkown; he only managed to get away and kill everybody he needed.

The Unkown never left traces behind; the only way to notice that he was pressing was by seeing him, and if that happened, you would already have been in a fight for your life. He killed everything and anybody, making no exceptions. The moment you noticed him, you had a chance to run away, but the moment you saw his face or found something out about his true identity, you were dead.

They worked their way through all the files and documents, focusing their attention on every single detail. Each paragraph sentence and word were read over and over again, for the sake of not missing a single piece of information.

Amon had already read the fourth file, and in each of them were two to eight pages of both written texts. Reading it was unpleasant; the information always stopped or was useless when he would need it to be more exact.

It was as if he read book after book that had a great story, factual passage, character, and, at the moment, were the climax of the story that occurred. The book ended or changed the story to a point that made him so angry that the whole book seems bad now to him.

Roxanne had it no easier. Right now, she read a report of a guild that seemed to have found something out about him, and as she was about to read the information the guild gathered about him, she read the news that the guild was whipped out over night by something, and every member and piece of information was destroyed.

It was as if she read a romance story, and suddenly, after the first good half of the book, aliens landed on the planet and killed the male lead in the most unlogical and stupist way possible. It was the last document in the file she worked on herself. She took the documents and, very gently and with a lot of restraint, put them back into the file when her anger overcame her. She took the whole file and launched it from one corner of the room to the next.

"This is bullshit. I wasted two hours of my life working on useless documents. I could have done many more things that would bring me more joy in my life. Fuck it!"

She stomped on the ground and let herself fall onto the bed. She was frustrated. She hated work similar to this, and combined with her feeling of weakness, anger rose inside her and caused a short explosion.

Amon stood up, laid beside her, and hugged her from behind. He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her toward him. Roxanne was thankful, turned around, and hugged him from the front.

"I must look terrible now. Sorry for being such a dump woman." Roxanne had no idea where these words came from; she knew the very best how Amon felt for her and that he would never think badly of her for such a silly reason.

"Roxanne I know you, and I know what you hate the most. It is the feeling of being weak and

vulnerable, but you are not anymore. All that is behind you. You don't have to worry about whether you are weak or not. You have people behind you now; if one fails, the others will help him. Just think about how you already fought together against the unknown."

Roxanne had no idea how Amon already knew how the fight between them went; it could be that it was already discussed in the conference earlier, but honestly, she was too much in the wind to worry about something like that.

But one thing was clear: Amon was right; if one stood shortly before the threshold of death, someone else pulled him down from there.

"And now that I have come, I still have not kept my word that I gave you."

Roxanne looked Amon in the eye and remembered the words he said to her.

"Well, go ahead and do what you want; I've been holding back way too long to worry about you being too wild or not."

Roxanne slid closer to Amon and gave herself to him completely. Amon didn't think a second more and began.
