The homecoming and the leaving of dirt and trash

Amon walked back to where everybody waited for his return. Most of the citicens were gone by now, and the twelve coats of arms, together with Bruna and the Royal Guard, waited too. As Amon tapped out of the castle, he gave his order about how to proceed.

"I am glad to see that the twelve coats of arms are finally together after a long time. Since this war is over, we will now return to the guild, where the Royal Guard and the rest of your soldiers that fought will come with us. Take your king with you, and then get back to your capital without any delay. We will pick up a fast pace. I don't want to be here any longer than I need to."

Amon jumped down from the place he stood, and as he landed on the ground in front of all his people, he landed as softly as a cat. There was no sound when he landed, nor was there any damage to the floor.

He sprinted out of the capital and then turned towards the mountains. Not everyone got back over the mountains. Amon's pace was faster than everybody expected, but it was still not impossible for everyone to follow him.

Bruna and Isabelle were the ones most isolated from the group. They fell behind, which did not surprise anyone. The two had neither the physical abilities nor the blessings to keep up with the others. Bruna was very good at arc magic, but she still didn't leave Isabelle's side.

Amon set the route, and everyone else followed him without question. He went ahead all alone at the beginning until he heard Leon's voice.

"What's wrong, Amon? I know you're not someone who likes to kill, but we had no choice." Leon tried to reassure his friend that he had done nothing wrong.

"That's not what worries me either. It's true that I don't want to murder if I don't have to, but I'm not afraid to do it. I have a few other things on my mind that I'm worried about. Don't worry, we'll discuss it all when we don't have ears around us that shouldn't be there.

The Royal Guard was still there, and Amon trusted him so little that he would even think for a whole day about telling him his date of birth.

When all the people he met were gathered in a place where no one could listen to them, he would reveal his worries and discuss them with them.

Roxanne followed the conversation between the two; she found nothing unnatural about it, but something was still wrong; it was Amon. She could tell there was something on his mind—something he wanted to share only with the two coats of arms: Aiko and Hiroshi.

It took them several hours to finally reach the guild, where Personia was already waiting for them. The moment Amon opened the guild gate with the others, little Personia jumped out and jumped into Amon's arms.

"I'm so glad that nothing happened to you and the others." Personia was not sad; she was relieved and happy. She neither hesitated nor felt uncomfortable. She trusted Amon and his abilities, but she was happy that he was back in one piece.

"Ouch, what is that at your waist?" Personia's gaze went straight to the spike-covered bag hanging around Amon's waist.

"There is something very important in that bag, something we need to discuss later, but first we need to get rid of our unwanted overnight guest from here."

Everyone understood directly who was meant; it was the king. The king who was present here made all of the guild members and the people who took refuge here uncomfortable.

Especially the guild and the Maidsquad wanted everything to return to normal; they hated to serve the king, and among the Maidsquad were many members who suffered from the system in their kingdom.

Each member of the Maidsquad earned unwavering loyalty and stood as Amon's most trusted in his guild, second only to the coats of arms.

The first thing he ordered the maids to do when he was back was to bring the king into a room where he could discuss everything he needed with the Royal Guard.

The maids rushed and, in a matter of seconds, handled their orders; the king was a thorn in their eyes for them. The safe and clean walls of the guild were now filled with danger and soaked with dirt and trash.

Before everyone could have seen it coming, the king sat on a chair in Amon's office to discuss everything that had to be said.

"Good, first, the war is over; you will take your men with you and get back to the capital; second, the territory of the capital from Verdan belongs to this guild from now on; and third, refugees from Verdan who flee to another country or those who are still in this country will not be touched as long as they do not commit a crime under the Continental Criminal Code."

Since laws were different in each kingdom or empire, the so-called ranking of codes was introduced internationally.

At the lowest level was the law of the state, then the law of the continent, and finally international law.

All laws that are above state law are thought out and elected by the individual representatives of the countries.

These decisions were made after the third magical world war, which took place 82 years ago.

Previously, the law in each country was a mess; now the individual states had to adhere only to certain specific rules, and the others could determine them themselves. Most often, the head of state does this.

The king slammed his fist on the table and shouted in protest, "Who are you to command me, your king around? You need to follow me, not me! You arrogant baster!"

Amon found this situation and conversation even now bordering and wished that they had already ended, and this situation started not even a minute ago.

"Let's see, I am the one who fought in this war; one of my men ended this war by doing what you were incapable of. I am the one who saved your ass by letting you stay in my guild. Without me, you and all of your people, including your kingdom, would be dead or enslaved by now. Now think again: Who do you think I am?"

The king could not believe his words and wanted to stand up and order someone to kill him, but the Royal Guard prevented him from doing so. The Royal Guard scrabbled his ear, and his voice resounded into the head of the king.

'My king, I know that you are angry, but please don't order this; the man that sits in front of you is way too powerful to be killed by me. I saw it with my own two eyes, and if you would order his execution, you would take the wrath of this whole guild on you, and I think I don't need to tell you what monsters live in this guild.'

The king's gaze first swung to Roxanne, who had already been discussed for a mass murder two years ago, and then it shifted to Amon. He trumped the might of his personal guard, and if he said this, it had to be true.

"I can't make promises now because I don't have a seal ring by me; this one got lost together with my arm. But I promise that the moment I have a new one or the old one gets found, I will discuss this with you, and then I am sure that we will come to an agreement that will be satisfactory to both of us."

The king showed a friendly smile, the smile his father thought he had when he was little. The smile a king needed to lie to his nation.

"Only under one condition do you take an item with you that I will give to you; if not, you will stay here with me, even if you have to sing the paper with your bones and blood."

Amon's gaze became heavy, and even if he was the only Qibander, he was surrounded by people born with mana. The king, the Royal Guard, and Roxanne could feel something—the intent to murder the king. Roxanne was neither startled by it nor, in any cell of her body, afraid.

Instead, she showed anticipation and satisfaction. The Amon he was now was the Amon she learned to know and saw the first time she saw him. Amon, who looked as if he were a demon, was the one who saved her. The angelic side was the one she learned to know later, and with both of them, she fell head over heels in love.

"Good as you wish."

As the king said this sentence, the air got lighter around him, and Amon showed a smile as if he were a saint who could not even kill a bug.

"Perfect, I will prepare everything. Please wait in your room and then take your leave when you receive my little present."

And in a matter of thirty minutes, Amon managed to give him an item and hunt him out of his guild with a friendly smile.

As the gates closed this day, the voices of all the maids in the guild resounded in happiness.
