Eternal night. A sky shimmering with an ethereal glow. Stars, the moon, and the absence of visible clouds. Luminescent flowers on the beautiful forests, fireflies and glowing stones. Trees made of shimmering veins of silver, and rivers that were crystal-clear, reflecting the light of the moon.
This was the Moonlight Region which was home to Mother Selene, the first wife of Eros and Mother of all Erothyria.
At the heart of the Region, was the Castle of Moonlight. A tall structure, carved from obsidian stone and silvery power of the moon glowing through its sutures.
The high towers on opposite sides threatened to pierce the sky, and they were draped in tendrils of glowing ivy. Silver banners were on the battlements, while magical symbols were ingrained in pale blue.
The grand courtyard was filled with floating lanterns that bobbed like celestial bodies, casting a soft, otherworldly glow over the land. Inside, the halls of the castle echoed with ancient power, the air thick with the scent of night-blooming flowers and the hum of magic.
But that's not where the real magic was going on, at least not for now.
In the largest of the castle's royal chambers, there was a spacious room with candles that burned with silver flames on the corners. This room was the Celestial Love Chamber.
The chamber was very vast, filled with soft silks, velvet cushions, and mirrors that reflected the act of romance, pleasure, desire and depravity that took place here. Delicate wisps of silver fog curled around in the air, rising from pools of enchanted water that lined the chamber's floor.
But there was an emotion in the air, a feeling. The feeling of desperation and need.
"Please, my Lord! My God! My husband! My king!" Mother Selene's beautiful, matured voice echoed in the dark room. "Please come to me tonight! Come and take me!"
She was laid on the velvet cushion, wearing only a transparent, silver lace gown that had no sleeves and covered nothing but her nipples, falling down to her thighs in slits.
Mother Selene was the epitome of a magical beauty, one that only grew better with age. She had long silver hair and pale, pristine skin. Her eyes were dark, but the pupils were silver, completing the enchanting resplendence that she possessed.
On that velvet cushion, her voluptuous body was on display. Her legs were wide open, and her thick thighs made way for the pink softness that was her sheath, although covered by the transparent lace gown — barely covered at least.
Her breasts were so large and firm that tear dropped to her stomach, and a desperate look was on her face.
"It's been so long, my Lord. Please take me one more time. Mate with me and impregnate me once more! Let me give you a daughter once again. Or perhaps..." her face fell nervous, "... a son."
She waited for Eros's response but the God of Erothyria remained silent.
But now it was clear what this was truly about. Although Eros had not made love with Mother Selene for a very, very long time, leaving her craving his touch and his celestial cock, she had another selfish reason for wanting to do this.
When Mother Selene heard that Mother Guinevere had given birth to a son, she was not fearful, irritated or angered like others. Rather she was envious. What made Guinevere so special that she could bear an anomaly.
In fact, she knew that the boy could not be an anomaly. Mother Selene knew that if Eros didn't want the boy child to live, he would have killed her long ago. This was his plan, a test to see what would happen if he brought a Son to the world rather than a Daughter.
What angered her the most and filled her with this envy was that Eros had chosen Guinevere.
Why? Why her? What was so special about her? She was his first wife and Guinevere was his last! Why would he disrespect her in such a manner?
Mother Selene's eyes narrowed in cold anger as she gazed into the distance, her lips pursed. 'How dare he ignore me?' she thought bitterly. 'Over and over again he ignores me. You have forsaken me, Eros. I am now the first wife that the husband eventually loses his love for.'
'You prefer your younger, fresher wives. And now you have abandoned me.' She stood up from the cushion and the lace gown draped down, reaching her feet.
Selene scoffed silently with disdain. She had ruled this Region with power and grace, had given herself to him time and time again, and yet he treated her like a forgotten lover, always giving his attention to others. It was an insult she could hardly bear.
Not any more.
A knock on her chamber door interrupted her brooding. Selene's sharp gaze flicked toward the door as one of her maidens entered, bowing low in reverence.
The maiden realized that the God had not answered her queen's desperate plea, so she knew she could come in.
"Your Majesty," the maiden spoke with an informal voice, clearly the two knew each other closely.
"Maridel," Mother Selene replied, arranging her clothing. "He still refuses to answer my call."
Maridel, the maiden, smacked her lips. "I wish I had an excuse to give in his name, dear Mother."
"He has abandoned me," Selene stated coldly, as though it did not affect her. "I have made peace with that. I will move on."
"Yes." Maridel said, nodding her head.
Mother Selene turned to her, giving her a piercing look with her sharp silver eyes. "What is it? You have news."
"Oh, yes. Indeed."
"Then speak."
The maiden hesitated for a moment before continuing. "It's about Lady Erimyra."
"Yes," Mother Selene nodded her head. "I had sent her to gather information on the Son that Mother Guinevere had given birth to. His Coming of Age ritual was yesterday. Has she returned? Does she have news?"
Maridel frowned nervously. "Not exactly, my queen. She… she has not returned."
Selene's eyes narrowed, and her voice darkened. "What do you mean, not returned?"
The maiden swallowed hard before speaking again. "She was… killed, Your Majesty. The people of Starlight Region believed her to be an assassin, and she was discovered with the sigil of Moonlight upon her. Mother Guinevere also sent a warning. Any harm sent toward her son will be met with retribution a thousandfold."
For a moment, the room fell into a heavy silence, and then, Selene's eyes blazed with fury. Her silver powers burned in her palms whilst her gown flowed like liquid light, then her voice thundered through the chamber.
"Is that a threat?! Guinevere of Moonlight, that... child dares threaten me?!" Her hands clenched into fists, and the air around her seemed to ripple with her rage. "Sleazy whore! She has the audacity to send me a warning?!"
Maridel took a fearful step back, knowing it was wise to avoid Mother Selene in times such as this. "What are you going to do?"
"What do you think!" Selene's voice echoed through the chamber like a clap of thunder. "I sent Erimyra as a spy, not an assassin. Guinevere thinks she can fool me with this petty game? I will not allow this insult to stand!"
She took a deep breath, her power receding slightly as she regained control of her emotions. "Call my daughters. The Institution will open soon, and Guinevere's son will be inducted to learn the ways of magic. My daughters will meet him there, and they will do my bidding."
Mother Selene narrowed her eyes with rage. "I will not be cowed by a mere child and her pathetic brood."
