The ones who are not meant to be in love

"No! You can't leave me. No! No! You have to live! You have to live for me!" She whispered crying heavily before trying to help that animal move. That animal groaned in protest before placing its fur-covered hand on her smooth skin-covered hand. It protested against her vain attempts to move it. Instead, it moved its head to nuzzle against her face purring in the happiness of being close to its lover. "There they are!" A loud voice announced much to the horror of Natalia. She can sense it. They are not very far.

A weird connection

In the middle of the night, Natalia woke up with a scream of horror, and her heart, clenched with an unbearable pain that seemed like a habit now. Her eyes puffed up from all crying she did in her sleep even when she is not conscious.

"Again?" Her roommate who is also the only person she knew in her life asked with concern laced tone.

Victoria is her name. She is the only person, Natalia has now.

Victoria got up from her bed and ran quickly to the nearby table where water was placed.

She took a glass filled with water and quickly gave it to now-sweating Natalia.

Natalia rapidly drank it to calm her thudding heart of pain.

"Breathe, Nat. Breathe slowly." Victoria rubbed her back, slowly comforting her.

When Natalia came to some normal breath, she wiped her tears which were slowly starting to strain her well-rounded cheeks.

"Thanks, Vicky!" She thanked Victoria as she always does every night.

It became a ritual for them.

"What is it now?" Victoria asked drinking herself some water.

"The same" She replied bringing both her knees together to put her chin on.

"The same? Again?" Victoria asked with confusion.

Natalia just nodded her head.

"I can't understand how you always have this particular dream every night and you particularly wake up at this time. 2:00 Pm" Victoria voiced out her confusion while stroking her own hair unconsciously.

"Exactly! This is the thing that I can't understand. Why at the exact 2:00 Pm?" Natalia said in a hoarse voice, a result of her cries in her dream.

Natalia suddenly felt pain striking deep inside her head and then her heart. She knew it well. After all, she is experiencing this every day.

The pain........

the sorrow......

the heartbreak........

a wave of sadness.......

a feeling that a part of her is ripped off from her while being still alive..........

an unbearable emotion mixed with pure torture of pain.......

both physically and mentally...........

Natalia clutched her heart tightly, not able to bear its pain.

Victoria's eyes widened at that painful sight.

She glanced at the wall clock.

2:37.....

2:37! 2:37!

No! She failed to notice the time.

She rushed to the nearby table at the side of Natalia's bed to take the tablets and walked over to Natalia panicking.

Natalia got the tablets from her and gulped them with water.

"You know that pain killers can do nothing to this. Right?" Natalia asked smiling sadly about how her best friend is trying to do anything to reduce her pain.

"Yeah! I know! But even if it reduces a tiny bit, it will be worth it. Moreover, sleeping pills too will help." She said, not being able to see her friend trying to conceal her pain from her.

Natalia simply nodded. She is right. At least, Sleeping tablets help. She was more than grateful for that.

"I will be going," Natalia said before getting up to leave the bedroom.

"Ok! But, take a blanket. You could catch a cold" Victoria said while getting up to take a blanket.

Natalia found herself chuckling at her only family despite that heart-crushing pain.

She shook her head lightly.

"You know that I am immune to cold weather. Right?" Natalia asked her raising her eyebrow.

"Ok! Ok! But when one day you catch a cold, Don't say that I don't warn you!" Victoria said before tugging herself into her bed with that blanket.

"Good night!" Natalia said before turning to leave that room.

"Come early. You have work tomorrow." was the last thing Natalia heard before closing the door of the room.

A cool wave of breeze stroked the tear-strained cheeks of Natalia when she stepped into the open space of the balcony which was Natalia's favorite in this house.

She walked slowly towards the railing of the balcony while looking at the moon above the sky.

Not once did she take her eyes off.

Why?

Simply because she can't.

It's always like this.

While looking at the moon, she feels a weird sensation in her heart.

Like she both hates and loves it.

When she looked at the moon, she feels like it betrayed her but strangely it comforts her after her every pain attack.

She seemed weirdly attached to it.

It seems like the moon has a weird connection to her soul.

No one around her ever feels what she feels when she looks at the moon.

Like it was both her home and hell.

She wanted to curse at it but simultaneously thank it.

She can't understand.

She sighed while leaning against the railing.

"What is happening to me? Why am I feeling this pain? Why am I feeling like someone is missing from my life? What is that animal in my dream? Why was I trying to help it? Why was I crying like that? How can it speak our language? That too without opening its mouth. Where can I find my answers? Can you tell me?" She asked the moon while looking at it like it was some goddess.

If only she can remember..............
