Chapter 75

"How is the female beta doing?" asked Cross as soon as Daniel got into the car

"She is becoming increasingly stubborn and demanding" Daniel answered, making the boys laugh out loud. Most of them were single and didn't understand the whole partner thing, especially with the drama surrounding females.

Daniel heard their laughter and only smiled. It seemed like he was complaining, but he wouldn't want Amber any other way. Her firmness when expressing herself kept him in check.

"At least, she let you come for the mission. We thought that you wouldn't make it tonight" Cross said seriously

"I know, I felt the same way. You know that Amber wasn't this way; it was the Denis situation that got her this way. She fears I would get hurt, and there wouldn't be another second chance."

Everyone in the car shook their heads in understanding; Afterall, they were present during that Ambush too and saw how badly their beta was hurt. They were all shaken up at the time thinking that he was kicking the bucket, but much to their relief, the Alpha showed up.

"Denis played those cards right under our noses" commented one of the guys in the car

"If he was anything like the Alpha, I bet we would all be dead by now. Every card was smart, but he was dealing them on the wrong side of the table, and much to his disappointment, things caught up with him" Cross responded

"Enough about the dead, what is the plan?" Daniel interrupted the talk.

They immediately became the vicious men of Alpha Alexander Basil Ford with a word from the Beta. One thing that made them the number one bodyguards or warriors as per the wolves community was discipline.

They respected rank and never overstepped their boundaries when it came to authority, and that kept things running smoothly.

"Bandi club." responded Cross and Daniel shook his in understanding

The car drove swiftly towards Bandi club thanks to the traffic that had eased up due to the time. Most road users had retired to their respective homes.

At light town........

Will and Lambart had gathered everyone inside the lab into the lounge. Dr. Adam and his assistant, Tony was also present.

"We have been at this for the past six years, but nothing worthy has come out of it. What can you say about that Dr. Adam?" asked Lambert

"I have done everything as per the boss' instructions, but nothing seems to be working as we expected" answered Dr. Adam timidly

"And whose fault is that?" asked Will

He rarely spoke, but when he did, he had this creepy smile that sent chills down people's spines. He had a tiny stick that he always played with in his hands, but one should always be weary of what they said before him because that small stick could find its way into your body.

"I would say that it's mine but that isn't the case. I have followed the process that we went through with the boss step by step, but the specimens seem to be the wrong ones."

"Are you trying to blame me for your incompetence, Dr. Adam?" came a voice from a small Bluetooth speaker on the table

The voice sent chills down Dr. Adam's voice. He could recognize that voice any time anywhere.

"No, sir. I am not blaming you. It's just that the blood samples from the wolves present has not matched enough with the chemical composition that we set up"

"Then come up with a composition that would match" barked Lambart.

Dr. Adam didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Science wasn't something that you did according to your preference, especially with compositions and cell matching.

It was either the right one or the wrong one. There is nothing like meeting in the middle for a fifty-fifty chance. And at this moment, as things stood, the blood he was using was weak.

"Shouldn't you answer to what I said, doctor?" came Lambert's demanding voice

"Y...yes, of course, I should. The thing is, I have tested most of the wolves by draining their blood and also cutting a piece of their skins, but seems like they are all weak and don't have the composition that we seek"

Dr. Adam tried to break it as much as possible for them to understand.

The man on the other side reminded them of the relative of the beta that they had in their cells. If they couldn't get the Alpha's blood, then at least, the beta family was next line. At least they could play around with that DNA. Maybe something could come out of it.

The mere mention of the beta's relative got Lambert panicked making both Will and Dr. Adam look at him.

"Why is no one answering?" boomed the voice on the other side of the phone

Lambert sent Dr. Adam a chilling glare to warn him to carefully pick his words.

"You were asked a question, doctor" Lambert hypocritically reminded the doctor

"Sir... Sir, I have used all wolves, but nothing is different. To make it worse, the beta's wolf is...." Dr. Adam stopped mid-way as soon as he saw Lambert's glare.

Will amused by the way Lambert panicked. That is what happens to someone if they don't heed the advice. Good luck with convincing the boss otherwise.

"Go on, doctor." encouraged Will. He loved every single moment of Lambert's panic.

"The beta's relative had weakened a lot from the too much blood drained, but she also doesn't compose the strong DNA that I need to complete the whole process."

Dr. Henry's answer calmed Lambert's beating heart, and just like that, he saved himself from the boss' wrath.
