Chapter 31

"I was wondering how he didn't come running to me right away" Standing by the window in his home, Alex had an unreadable expression. As he listened to the party on the other side of the phone, he couldn't help but turn around and look at the masterpiece lying on his bed.

"I understand that he is desperate, but he should be scared to cross me twice" Whoever they were discussing must have had it coming.

"Let one of the boys keep an eye on him" He hung up and moved to sit next to Malia at the edge of the bed. Her face was gaining some color after how it had turned so pale.

Thinking about doctor Henry's report, Alex couldn't help but smile at the memory. Malia was indeed remarkable. She came in bundles; how lucky he is.

After losing his family, Alex always felt alone, but because he was the Alpha, everyone's life was riding on, and he had to let go of himself. He had to accommodate everyone after the tragedy ten years ago. Mourning and mopping around like everyone wasn't in the books for him, and it hurt so much because he wanted to feel all of it.

Work became a saving grace; he had to wait so long so that he could feel such a special bond meant that the moon goddess remembered him. He touched Malia's fingers, and just like the first time, the tingles went through him like an electrical shock. It was foolish of him not to recognize this special feeling right from the start. How ignorant of him.

Alex couldn't help but smile. "His princess, you have to get well soon because we need you, ok?"

He got up, tucked her in, and pecked her forehead. He couldn't help himself, so he sniffed her neck. "Oh, you scent baby, I could just eat you up."

Lost in the newfound bliss, Alex felt stupid to smile so openly like a fool. He could only shake his head as he left the room after turning off the light.

He was grateful that Daniel was out of the house. Since Malia was here, he had to return to his mate. Alex was thankful to his Beta and his mate for everything they had done for Malia.

Alex headed to his study, and like at the 02; he had another door in his study at home. The room was all surrounded by screens. When he got in, he put a pair of pants he was holding on the grass line carpeted floor. He turned on the screens using a remote, and a forest-like theme filled them. Looking at the complete room, it looked like a forest.

After ensuring that the door was back to how it was, he transformed into a wolf. Because the room was soundproof, he growled loudly, letting all his frustrations out. He then sat back down on the floor.

Alex, in his wolf form, was a dark creature. So huge, he made the room look small for him. The wolf had one different color on his body, a red on his front leg and one at the tip of his right ear. His eyes were also red.

He was indeed a beast of the night. The whole picture of the wolf Alpha lying there so calmly concludes the entire statement of the calm before the storm. His eyes were dancing with all the lights shimmering from the screens. One could see that the beast was calm.

Alex always came to this room whenever he felt like he wanted to break free and be who he genuinely was. Living among the humans ignorant of what they were was very tasking and dangerous.

To protect most of the wolves, he put out the rule for them about shifting, and if he is being truthful, Alex could confidently say that most of the wolves haven't shifted for ten years.

It is safe for them and plays a big part in allowing them to live freely among humans. Some wolves preferred this way of life to those in packs because they didn't have pack rules breathing down their necks.

Most wolves are scattered around the country, and some leave the country. All these have been achieved thanks to their Alpha, who worked so hard to stand at the highest point in their country in terms of wealth.

Alex stayed in the room for about an hour and heard a sound thanks to his wolf ears. He realized that it might be from his mate. So he shifted and wore the pair of pants he had brought in with him earlier.

Malia wasn't awake in the room but seemed to be staring into her dream. But, of course, it could have been a bad dream. Alex, who had run to come to her, breathed a sigh of relief when he realized it was only a dream. He bent down and carried her to make her lay beside him.

However, he regretted his decision since he was shirtless, with all the tingles going through his body like an electric shock. He could feel himself get hard and guilty at the same time. How could he start getting horny when his mate was still unconscious.

He covered them with a blanket, pecked her forehead, and called it a night. "Good night, princess."
