Chapter 21

Arnold, who was sleepy, seemed to be more awake now as he sat upright; he would recognize that voice anywhere.

"Yes, Alpha... I... I mean Sir, Mr. Ford. How may I help you, Sir?

"Oversee the company's lawyer," Came the curt reply from the other side, and the line was cut.

Arnold was still confused by the short instruction. Left his bet and headed to the kitchen to pour himself a glass of water. Maybe he was still sleepy and needed to wake up. He had set his phone in recording just in case he missed something that the boss said since he never said much over the phone. Picking his phone, he checked the recording, and indeed, he had heard well. So he really did instruct him to oversee the lawyer. How sad for the old man.

Whatever the lawyer had done to push the Alpha's button was severe. When Mr. Ford says the word oversee, it always means destroy or finish off. Arnold had to convey the message to the crew. He headed to a room in his house, and it was filled with computers.

Arnold, who was always happy and jolly, was an expert in IT, which explains why despite his playful nature, some like Alex would tolerate him enough to make him work for him. He would hack into almost anything, and he was of the two that worked in Alex's secret intelligence.

Looking at Herbert Lawson's image on his computer, he could only shake his head pitifully. What had provoked him to step on Mr. Ford's toes? He prayed that it should be big or significant enough to cuddle him on the grass once he lands from grace.

Mr. Lawson owned one of the best law firms in the country, and he had earned even a much higher position when his firm signed a contract with the Ford Group of companies. It wasn't hard to make all that the old man had worked for come crumbling since it was a law firm.

Integrity and truth are some of the footstools of a reputable law firm, and Arnold was going to use the same again, Mr. Lawson's firm.

He sent a message to his friend who worked in the media and attached a heavy file. After sending it, he was happy. "Good riddance to bad rubbish. How can he destroy his sleep."

Sometimes Arnold wondered if they were really wolves, people like Mr. Lawson deserved to be torn apart using their sharp nails. But, they will have to thank Alpha Alex for that because he warned the wolves against attacking humans, innocent or not. Otherwise, there would have been a blood bath.

Alex, who had worked till late, was in the elevator to his penthouse. He was so tired that he needed a cold birth to get rid of the stiffness in his muscle. When the elevator indicated arrival, it dinged, and the doors opened.

The penthouse was one befitting of a billionaire indeed. The modern amenities, quiet location, and proximity to all that the city had to offer. Alex was certainly living the dream. One would argue that he earned the luxurious life that he got to live.

The gem of a house overlooked some of the most mesmerizing views, and its deed cost him a fortune to be able to afford, but he would exchange it for anything. The deluxe penthouse came with beauty. The chandeliers were beautiful art that was quite unique. A modern gym, class, and modern-day to day kitchen. The wine cellar was life because it had some of the most exquisite wines that others only dreamed of testing. All to Alex alone.

His bedroom was spacious, accompanied by an ensuite bathroom that came fully loaded with everything a modern bathroom possessed. Not forgetting his walk-in closet that must have cost a fortune just by looking fine the delicate alignment of suits, the watches, shoes, and everything a man like Alex needed to look like a snack.

As he took off his shirt to go have a bath, he thought about what Malia would think of his place. Would she like it? He needed to create space for himself in the closet. Lost in his thoughts, he was brought back by a knock on his bedroom door.

Clearing his throat, he called whoever was on the other side of the door to come in. In walked his butler, Amos Dawson.

"Good evening, Alpha," Greeted the middle-aged man politely

"Good evening Amos; how was your day?"

"Fine, thank you, Alpha. Hope your day was good, Sir?

"My day was long but fruitful. Thank you for asking. Is there anything that you wanted?"

"Yes, Alpha. I came to ask if you needed anything to eat?"

Amos turned to return to his room since the Alpha wouldn't have anything to eat. He didn't look happy, though. Despite being the Butler, Amos had practically raised the Alpha, and he was like a father figure to him.

He always cautioned the Alpha's coffee intake, especially during night hours, because he considered it not healthy. Amos had gone to ask him if he wanted to have anything to eat, but Alex turned him down with the excuse that he had already eaten. Amos wasn't buying it, but he didn't want to be too impulsive because the Alpha looked tired.

"You know that you have to eat your meals well. How can you have a chef that cooks better than most people and still does not eat? Aren't you paying him for nothing"

"Daniel, do you want to sleep outside?" Came Alex's warning

He wasn't in the mood for any nagging, and if Daniel was going to do that, he might as well find his mate a place to send him packing. There is a reason why he lived alone in the house. Amos stayed in an extension of the home.

Daniel, who wasn't ready to sleep out, raised his hand in mock surrender and turned to go back to his room.

Alex took off the rest of his clothes and headed to the bathroom.
