Chapter 22: It's fate

MIRANDA 'S POV -

Honey

My plan had been working like honey until now.

I had arranged for Ken, especially to deliver the soup to Kendall. I had made up some excuse that Samarah and I had to resolve some issues, so I would have to be with her.

But again Kendall was ill as well so, someone would have to check on her and since I hardly knew (and trusted) anyone here except for Ken; he would have to do it.

I felt myself snicker at the thought that I had masterminded all of this successfully.

Then my jaw fell open as I stared at Ken and Kendall through the keyhole as they leaned closer to each other.

OH YEAH! This was my chance!

I would completely startle Ken by entering now to hopefully have a peek in his mind. Thus, uncovering his true emotions towards Kendall.

But again, a part of me really did not wish to break their cute moment. But I had to make sure that Kendall wouldn't get her heart broken.

Before changing my mind again, I swiftly entered the room.

I saw a surprised Kendall on the bed and a very shocked Ken on his feet, eyes wide.

I seized the moment and got what I had come for before he blocked me out of his mind again. Seriously, how does he even do it.

Sugar - coating my voice, I chirped innocently," Sorry to startle both of you but I thought that I would check on Kendall now that Samarah was asleep."

Just to embarass him further I added," Dis I interrupt anything?" Ken's pale ears turned beet red and he blushed like crazy as Kendall threw me pleading glances to stop my questioning.

I definitely was enjoying Ken's icy demeanour break as his face showed something other than the smug grin he always carried.

He stammered out a quick," N...no...no....not at all.", before quickly exiting.

By this point I was no longer unable to control my laughter as it escaped my mouth loudly. I recieved a slap on the arm from Kendall and winced. She wasn't too merciful with her hits as I replayed the scene of Damon flying on to a corner like a ragdoll by Kendall's pretty painful slap.

I might be a goddess but I still had bones to break. So, I stopped my wheezing laughs, stifling them.

Kendall threw daggers at me as she said," You know you really have the worst timing ever."

I replied trying to feign innocence," Oh do I?". Kendall snorted before remarking," Anyways, what did you come here for?" I smirked before replying," Nothing important. Anyways, goodnight."

I glanced at the tray on the bed but realized that Ken had walked out with the bowl in his hurry. Chuckling, I left the room, leaving a confused Kendall behind.

KENDALL 'S POV -

The next morning

Miranda's smirk had haunted me the whole night and now was the first thing to cross my mind as I woke up.

She had been acting so weird lately. But again, she had always been a little mysterious ever since I had known her.

For starters, I hadn't even known her last name for the first eight months of our friendship. Now, as a God she was getting more mysterious alongwith a hint of weirdness.

Then Ken's face flashed before me. His lips parted as he looked at me with half closed eyes Ken's plump lips thus broke my internal rant.

Man! We would have kissed.

Hell! Even if he would have tried to back out last moment, I would still have pressed down on him.

Shit! My alpha tendencies were surfacing again as I realized that the heat would begin from tonight.

I gave out a sigh of relief realizing that the heat wasn't getting to my head...at least for now except for the occasional images of Ken smirking, smiling playfully, touching me, shirt tightly hugging his abs, the bulge in his pants....Holy cheese! I was pathetic.

I mentally chided myself.

Then I got up grudgingly hoping that I wouldn't encounter Ken on my way to Miranda. Seeing him would just trigger up things, I wished to delay for as long as possible. The only reason I had opted to leave my room today was because I had to explain to Miranda about my condition.

Just so that she would be ready to handle me of things got too heated. Did I just make a pun? Nevermind. It was a lame one.

SAMARAH 'S POV -

Last night had been a good one. Miranda and me had reminisced about the past days and then done our nails and had like a mini sleepover.

Kendall's absence had been felt but again she was feeling weak and had to rest; according to what Miranda had told me.

She had been too worries about Kendall recently. Even when Ken had asked about providing Kendall with some soup, she had blanked out for sometime.

Poor Miranda! She didn't even have a mate to talk to like I did.

And just like that, my thoughts centered towards Damon. I smiled to myself as I remembered his low voice whisper softly in my ear," My love, are you awake?"

I had been on the brink of falling asleep last night but hearing him I had promptly woken up.

" Yes, I am." , I mentally replied. " I want to show you something now."

"Huh?", how was he going to show me anything.

Then I felt a chill shoot up my spine as a weight pressed on my lips softly. It felt like it were his.

"How.... how did you do this?", I said totally dumbstruck. He chuckled with his deep voice. That stirred something in my heart for a brief moment as he continued," Well...this is something only fated mates can do or so, as I found out in a book about vampire's romance."

" Fated mates?", I questioned. He patiently replied," Yeah. These kinds of mates are very rare. So rare, that only eight such cases have been documented till now. These kind of mate matches were pre - destined and since you were a human who had claimed me, I always knew that there was something special. A quick peek in the royal library gave me the answers I needed."

Then he abruptly broke off," I got to go now, my love. Talk to you later."

All of the special effects just to end it like a lame text.

But I couldn't help but admit that hearing his voice had really put me at ease and I finally let sleep consume me.

-

I wasn't aware how much time had passed before I felt someone nudge me. Kendall entered my periphery as I turned to face her. She looked at Miranda's empty bed searchingly.

" Miranda went to find Ken, I think." , I recalled her voice hazily enter my ears as I heard,' Gon...na g..o to Ke...n.'

Kendall snorted in a huff before promptly walking out.

Huh! What on earth! That was weird to say the least.

DAMON 'S POV -

I had used the king's check - in to my advantage quite a bit and had found out a good deal about fated mate bonds.

But yet, this was not nearly enough to answer my questions for me. As I had found out from royal books and records, fated mates are only possible between two vampires that rarely between non - royal ones. In fact, out of the eight cases of pre - destined mates, only one was between a royal and a non - royal vampire.

It had been between Dracula and his first love. Then how did my love claim me as her mate.

I needed more time to figure this out as well as some other things. I just hoped that i would be able to survive that long in here.

A single wrong move from me could raise the king's suspicions and if he somehow managed to find out about Samarah, only the Devil knew what lengths he would go to to get his hands on her; freaking out that another of his whack prophesies........

No, no, no. It was too early to conclude it as that. I need more information.
