Staring Contest

"Look man, I'm not asking you to teach me any Uchiha clan techniques. I'm asking for you to teach me fire release."

"Oh, umm… I guess there's no problem with that. But before I teach you anything, what do I get in return?"

He's gotta be fucking with me right? He's part of the Uchiha clan. What could I possibly offer him? 

All I really have is Fuinjutsu but Obito doesn't have the patience.

"I would offer to teach you Fuinjutsu but I doubt you'd have any interest."

"And what's that?" Obito said, sounding offended.

"Im not calling you stupid i genuinely don't think you'd enjoy Fuinjutsu. Wait, do you even know what Fuinjutsu is?"

Obito opened his mouth but nothing came out.

"I thought so." Taking a seat in the grass, I figured the best way to persuade him to not make me teach him Fuinjutsu was to explain Fuinjutsu, "Fuinjutsu is the art of sealing. Using chakra and seal script as a medium to-" and I've already lost him. Hmm, what is the best way to explain this? "You know explosive tags right," Obito nodded, "Those are made with Fuinjutsu. All those lines and words you can't read are seal script. Which is an entirely different writing system you'd need to learn just to even start."

Seems my explanation worked but I still need to give him something in return.

"How about this? I'm pretty close to finishing my second seal. It still needs some work but when I'm done I'll make you some copies and teach you to use them. sound good," I offer. 

"Yeah,"

"Excellent, now teach me fire release Obito-sensei."

Aw that got a smile out of him.

"Thanks again Obito if you ever need help with anything Guy knows where I live."

With goodbyes exchanged Obito ran off presumably home given the time. 

Unfortunately I wasn't able to perform any fire release. Obito's attempt to teach me wasn't very helpful. He kept going on about how it felt to use  fire release trying to get me to replicate the feeling because that's how he does it apparently. I mean good for him but I didn't find it all that helpful.

I asked him how he first learned fire release. He went on to tell me he was taught the hand signs for a fire jutsu. Now that was interesting unless he left out some important info. It sounds like the hand signs automatically converted his chakra into fire natured chakra. Obito wasn't successful in performing the jutsu but he felt his chakra convert to fire release.

I doubt the library just has this stuff open to just anyone. So it seems I need to make a new friend, someone experienced and willing to give an Academy student some pointers.

I was Lucky to run into someone like Sakumo. The chances of finding someone like him willing to listen to some random kid. Typically kids my age aren't taught because their chakra system isn't developed for it to be worth the time. Sakumo had Kakashi who had a sufficiently developed chakra system before I even ended up in this world so that wasn't a problem for him. I was just another kid like Kakashi except I didn't have anyone to guide me.

So my goal for tomorrow is to make a new friend.

Making my way home I ate a quick dinner then turned in earlier than usual.

The next day I awoke bright and early. Unfortunately I had Academy today so I'll have to get that out of the way first.

Leaving the Academy I waved to Guy and Dui. Ok let's do this.

I needed to find someone willing to help out an Academy student or at the very least someone so irresponsible they give a child a fire Jutsu, both will work. 

Ok let's do this.

First things first, let's find a Shinobi. 

Hmm?... I don't know. I am currently looking at a rather sad sight of a drunk Shinobi passed out between two buildings. He looks like the irresponsible type but I don't know if dealing with him will be worth it, plus there's no guarantee he will even know fire release.

In the end I deemed him too much trouble and continued my search.

Eventually I end up by the village gates pestering the Shinobi on duty. 

"Come on, I won't tell anyone it was you if i end up burning down a part of the village," I pleaded with the annoyed Shinobi who was starting to lose his patience. 

If everything else fails ill just keep coming back here days after day until he gives in. Maybe I should start bringing him lunch and worm my way into his good grace. Other than the Academy staff I doubt I would be able to find anyone else consistently.

While I was rambling on about the pros and cons to teaching me fire release and how I plan to negate the cons he suddenly stiffened up sitting up straight.

Turning around I saw a Shinobi wearing a gray vest similar to the green ones worn by most Shinobi with matching bracers and a little cloak around his upper half. But what unsettled me the most was my inability to feel him with my chakra sense even though he was this close. The only other person who could do that was Sakumo but I already knew him so it didn't really unsettle me. 

I feel lots of people's chakra every day it's pretty much ingrained into me to get a feel for a person's chakra before I ever even approach them. Sure I can't directly sense emotions but one's emotions do affect their chakra. Typically it doesn't change how it feels but rather the speed at which it cycles throughout their body and how intense it feels. But sometimes if the emotion is strong enough I can feel a change to their chakra. It's small but it's still there. And if the emotion persists, their chakra continues to change. I don't know if someone's chakra could change so drastically that I can't recognize them anymore. If it is possible I wonder if they would still be the same person or would they become someone else essentially?

Returning my attention back to the pale Shinobi I suddenly feel very out of place as more Shinobi enter the village. Most of them are wounded one way or another with those who aren't either carrying those who are in no condition to walk or are the escort.

"Orochimaru-sama!" Exclaimed the Shinobi who I was pestering. 

Paying no mind to the Shinobi who said his name Orochimaru looked into my green eyes with his yellow snake eyes.

alright time for more timeline shenanigans. so Kakashi's graduates after six months in the Academy then he either dose his own thing for a bit or immediately joins up with Minato but for this story let's say he's immediately put under Minato and just kinda get dragged around the front lines as Minato becomes the Yellow Flash. Orochimaru where abouts during the Thrid War and what he was doing aren't know so I have absolute freedom on that front. oh and Kabuto was just born.
